1.8l Diy Q

OK here is the question.

1.8L, going to run about 7psi, Non- intercooled, but using WI. MSD for timing control. I ran 9psi with WI and the MSD without any issues @ 14* base timing. My issue is fueling.

Can I run stock injectors with a 190 lph HP pump with out any additional fueling?

Can I install Supra Injectors with the same pump?

or

Do I need a FPR or something else to control additional fuel needs?

I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Thanks all...

I'm running Supra injectors with a 190HP and BEGi AFPR, that's what I would suggest if you don't want to get into an ECU of some sort.

Alrighty, please excuse the questions. Some of them may seem pretty lame...Baby steps...How do you set the AFPR to your needs, how do you know it is suffecient besides a dyno?

I had a piggy back and got rid of it when I sold the SC set up. So I am starting from scratch and it will take a bit until all the new info turns the lightbulb on in my brain.

Check out Braineack's FAQ:

https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4288

This will answer a lot of your initial questions.

A 12-1 will be suffecient for any power level south of 230 or so whp past that there are work arounds. Look to my posts for info as well as the FAQ by Braineack.

Running that IHI RHB5 from the FS thread?
Your injectors + a BEGi FMU (aka AFPR) should be fine for 7 psi outta that thing. Might be a good idea to send the injectors out to be serviced.

You'll want to pick up a wb o2 to tune it.

200$ from DIY autotune. and you have a WB02 ;) it can even simulate Narrow band to keep the stock ecu happy and allow you to use the stock 02 hole.

turbo'ing a car without proper fuel control is like playing russian roulette...

You are right on the mark Ben. That is exactly what I needed to know. I should have mentioned that I got that set up. Now, when you say the injectors are you meaning the stock units, or the 305's? This will be my 1st turbo set up, so something nice and easy is what I am looking for. As I learn I will do more to it, change things out. You guys simply rock. I hope that I will be able to contribute to this forum a little more one day. Right now I am just a information mooch. Thanks all. I will keep you posted on the progress...

Props to you to man. Your post turned me on to water injection, and it just so simple to use. I will be doing it again with the turbo set up.

Thanks man.

you should service which ever injectors you use. your stock injectors should be fine.

magnamx-5 06-22-2007 08:16 AM

thanks 96rdstr lets hope your good results will help inspire more people to use WI. I agree with ben to get the injectors cleaned by witch hunter or whoever you care for. I sent them my 550's in horrible condition and got them back. With all new seals pintels, and 3 of them repaired from where they where jammed open now all of them flow within 3 cc/min of each other. for 68 $ totall i think that was a frigin good deal. Feel free to drop me a line, if you get stuck. :D
