being 18psi wants to run a stock exhaust then a 3" dump to vta.

so your 3" flapper on a 3" exhaust isn't really valid.

Yeah, i think your graphing is pretty self explanatory, Jason. Based on that I'm just going with that muffler on my new exhaust from Abe.

I'm going to try to do some with-without dynos as well, once I have it all sorted.

To be perfectly clear though, the dump would be BEFORE the stock exhaust. Meaning as soon as the car reaches 4psi it basically has an open downpipe.

Valid for what 18 psi wants to do?

I'm just saying it's a valid solution for a quietish (still not as quiet as stock) system in cruise, that affects spoolup less than 100 ms in 3rd gear, and has < 5 psi backpressure at 280 whp.

Does 18 psi really want stock exhaust quietness in cruise?

BTW my system is pretty inaudible freeway cruising, the wind noise is louder. And I have quietish tires (Star Specs) and lots of sound deadening in my miata.

What kind of sound deadening have you done? I'm thinking about putting expanding foam in a bag under the parcel shelf. Hopefully it will expand and take the form of the parcel shelf. Should be lite, and provide some sound insulation.

McMaster Mastic Mat "dynamat clone" under all the interior carpeting, and shiny bubble wrap too. Helped a lot with road noise coming up from bottom.

Since then I've found that "QuietCar" works well, and can be painted under wheel wells like undercoat. Helped with my ex "Acuronda" Acura 1.6 EL.

full stock exhaust with a 3" dump at the dp would be great for a sleeper. and if you actuated it with the trottle instead of with boost it would help spool times. like if you had it start opening at 3/4 thottle and had it full open by wot. it would be almost silent til you got on it.

This is what I've repeated in like 5 threads now:
WHAT ABOUT THROTTLE ACTUATED?

Basically any modern crotch rocket uses one of these things these days.
So get a spring flapper like Jason has, and run a throttle wire to it.

This maybe off topic and I know your staying away from electric cutouts, but I think if my memory serves me right, does adaptronic have an electric cutout controller per throttle input?

to the dump? so you're syaing anytime you apply throttle you want the car to be loud?

defeats purpose?

Looks like you are right, I looked at the features for the adaptronic and also for AEM units a couldn't find anything for electric cut out control, I could've sworn I've seen it before. So how would you have it open at 3/4 throttle? I kinda have an idea of what may work, gonna get out the notepad to doodle on

Every modern motorcycle/crotch rocket has one of these:

I have a lot of friends with bikes, and I've personally inspected this contraption on many occasions. It opens past 50% throttle. Some are directly wired up to your throttle cable, some are controlled with a little computer and electric motor, but pretty much all high performance bikes Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, etc, have something like this in their exhaust system.

another illustration

I know folks on here are all about simplicity and not overcomplicating things, but this really appeals to me and my quest for nearly silent exhaust under normal driving conditions.
