Default Link Cable

Hey guys,
Is it possible to get a COTS cable extension for the Link keypad?
ie, just add on the original one, using the original head mated to another cable?
Or are the connecting heads special?

COTS?

Just go buy the correct length of ribbon cable and re-use the connectors.

Commercial off the shelf.
What i'm trying to do is retain the kaypad where the ashtray holder is for day to day driving, then use an extension cable for times when i'm tuning.

I've made another 1m cable so that i can relocate the keypad from ashtray holder to the dash when i'm tuning.

What about a pda holder/arm turned sideways to hold the keypad? Then you could run the cable under the center console, up through the dash by the gauge pod. Nice for watching data realtime while driving.

Hmm
I thought about it, but i would much rather hide the keypad away from prying eyes than in open view.
thanks for the idea tho

I very rarely use the keypad unless I intend to make adjustments. Most of the time it is sitting on a shelf at home. I bought FM's holder (over priced but effective) makes it nice and easy when tuning, I can't imagine having it as low as the console and attempting to run to the top of 4th gear while reading the display.

It's not permanent- it's just holder that grabs the palm, like it would the keypad. Just unhook the cable from the palm and throw the palm in the glovebox... or pocket... where ever.

Nice, I gotta grab a m500 palm. I missed out on a few ebay auctions when I talked to you last about this setup. I'm getting tired of lugging my laptop every time I want to datalog.

I just hide the keypad in the ashtray holder most days, then extend it using the cable to relocate to my speedometer are when tuning.
I have a palm V that has a busted battery

Palm V won't run Plink, even with a good battery. Need at least 8mb memory. I understand the keypad is more of a tuning device and not a data display device (given it can't show more than two things at once). So there's probably not much of need to put it in line-of-sight while driving.

Having it in line of site is nice when you are tuning alone.
