Default MAF Relocation? 1.6 T25 setup

1.6L with a T25 setup, i know pictures would help but i've misplaced my camera..

regaurdless, I had some (nissan) friends convince me to move it from the position it was in [that was not stock, but nearby stock's location] in order to rid of my two 90 degree bends.. sure enough, it opened up alittle. this newer position also offered more cold air, runs better too.

problem, I believe my maf is TOO CLOSE to my turbo now..

is there a certain distance I should keep my maf from my turbo? A friend of mine who is quite respectful among this area in inspecting cars told me he illegally passes tuned cars all the time (If they are done right and safe) and he told me he would refuse to pass a car with the maf within 10" of the turbo.

Problem is, it seems like with the room I have to work with, its either further than 10" away, or no rough 90degree bends off my turbo...

any ideas? solutions? pros, cons, or just some random hate for me, lets hear it.

Thanks!

It does not matter in the slightest where the MAF is located with regards to the compressor inlet.

I personally relocate most of the MAFs I work on to the trash can.

Where your maf is located isn't going to help your intake temps at all. It still goes through the turbo. You should put your maf in the stock location and stop thinking it's going to help you by moving it. Once you've put it in the stock position, get a proper engine management solution, switch to MAP, profit.

thanks, yeah I restored it to stock location, I no longer peek my boost out at 4grand rpms in 2nd [granted it is only T25.. not much smaller than that] i don't peek until much later, 6000-6250 didnt get much time to check it out, but feels much better..

yeah engine management is on the list, though i have some things i need to take care of beforehand.. swap out turbo before any tuning is done, any rework some small kinks out.

and im losin lot of oil, leak that is not burning, i havent hit anything [road wise] lately, i feel its my oil pan gasket. within a month or two il have it on its way
