2001 stock ECU/injectors can handle boost?
anyone know?
I'm curious for a few reasons. will the stock setup go nutty if it smells boost or too much airflow? matt |
not that i've heard of. just that you have a returnless system right at 60psi right?
|
Outside of the usual caveat that the O2 sensor will be fighting you as you add fuel, I can't see why an '01 ECU would be predisposed to freak out. It has no MAP sensor.
Is there a problem? |
no problem (yet?)
and when I say stock, I mean stock. as in adding a turbo and leaving everything else (well, not the crossover pipe) stock. just wondering if it's possible to datalog the OBDII port and build a stock map with the turbo on so I don't have to change a bunch of crap back to stock. and I can't wire the WG open, it's an external. |
You should be ok, the MAF doesn't start freaking out til ~15psi, But as Joe all ready mentioned the stock ecu will keep your A/F @ 14.7, w/o an o2 clamp
|
I'd probably run close to 14.7 AFR under 4 psi anyway... (3.8 psi wg spring).
ok thanks guys! |
My car went dead lean under 3 psi last night. I removed the Voodoo box and was driving under the stock ECU. I stay out of boost when driving like that but wanted to see what would happen if I got into a little bit of boost. The wideband said my AFR went down to 17. Not saying this is correct or anything, but I won't be going into any boost under the stock ecu again. Gotta get MS working.

I actually had it apart today. Just got my T-handle hex keys in metric finally. I could probably devise a way to hold the piston up or somethin... |
Either that or put like a 3psi spring in, I think it'll hold it's own at 3psi.
