3 piece manifold?

https://www.dieselpowersource.com/3-...ge-cummins-24v

Never heard of it before? Keeps them from shrinking/warping?

Discuss?

Why would a cast manifold shrink? I have never heard of that before. Looks like more places for it to leak if you ask me.

Apparently its common with the 12/24v cummins trucks.

How long is a cummins head compared to a miata, and do they naturally run hotter and higher pressure ratios?

I had a Cousin making manifolds for 12V years ago, he had a hell of a time keeping them from cracking all the time.

Gas runs much hotter EGTs.

3 piece manifold?

Inline 6 diesels commonly have 3 piece exhaust manifolds because they are long and there are differing rates of expansion. Some have individual heads for each cylinder even though the block is one piece.

Good to know.
