Yes it will fit. You just will not be one of the starter bolts. You can drill out a hole in the think NA mating plate or switch to a 6speed plate to fix that issue. Also I believe one of the two sensors wires crimps have to be changed. Basically cut the side off that connects to sensor on both transmissions. Then connect the ones from the 5 speed sensor to the 6 speed sensor. It will make sense once you see it. Also you will want to run amsoil transmission oil in it. If you want a source for it at cost send me a pm.

lol at the previous answers....

Dont you need the driveshaft and rear end also? I have never looked into 6 speed swaps but that is just what I have gathered through browsing. Also, what about the PPF?

fooger03 02-28-2012 05:05 PM

The driveshaft/rearend are completely independent of the transmission. Any NA/NB driveshaft will mate to any NA/NB transmission. The driveshaft size is based on the differential. A 1.6 differential requires a 1.6 driveshaft, and a 1.8 differential requires a 1.8 driveshaft. The 1.6 diffs were longer, and so the 1.6 driveshafts were shorter. PPFs were identical on all years.

Well there ya have it, I know nothing of rear end or transmission swaps lol
