91 GReddy Turbo car Burning Oil

OK, So I bought this 91 Miata with a GReddy kit on it last week. The car ran great. But 1 week later it is burning oil faster than there were in Kuwait many years ago.

I checked the oil level and it was overfull by maybe a quart.

I have lowered the oil level again back to correct, but it is still burning. If it is the oil level, how long will it take to stop?

If it is not the oil level then where would you look first to diagnose the problem. Engine is only 25K miles old. Or so I am told. Could it be the seals in the turbo, or the Head gasket?

Just after I got it I filled it with 89 octane as the damn gas staion was out of 93. I booted the car only once or twice after that but backed off when I heard pinging and babied it ever since. I emppptied a can of NOS octane boost to get me through the rest of this tank.

Thanks

Ashley

check to see if your coolant has oil in it or is a milky color, do an oil change and inspect the oil, is there white smoke coming out the exhaust, turbo oil supply line/fittings may be sending too much oil to the charger.

Oil is good, no milkyness. The smoke is white whith a blue tint to it.

let me get this time line. you drove it for a week it was fine. then you checked the oil after you noticed "smoke" you notice that it was overfilled. you removed some oil ? did you do a oil change to do so?

So over filling can be a issue you, you may have frothed your oil with your crank case and caused some issues. If you haven't, do a oil change and come back to us. If it is burning it like you say, you should notice oil less oil when you check the oil levels. You didn't really say that was the case.

How old is the turbo?

Now, thinking about it I drove it maybe one day, then noticed smoke, so It may have been smoking from the get go. Then I checked the oil and found it overfull.

To Lower the oil level, I drained all the oil, then put the correct amount of the original oil, which was clear and like new back in.

I have not driven the car since the oil level change, it is on jack stands and I started it and reved it in place.

So.

I will do a complete oil change, and drive the car for a couple of days to check what happens.

Not sure of the Turbo age.

Ashley

I appreciate your help.

I removed the plugs today, here is a shot of a good one and the one that is bad, now the big question, head gasket or oil rings?

I oneder how long it has been like this?

What's the order of how they where pulled and which where good and bad.

I think the front two were good, then number three is still in there as some idiot put it in so tight that i striped the hex off it. How do you get em out now?
Anyway I think number four was bad....

So what now?

Should I get a used motor?
Should I rebuild this one ?
Is OEm parts good enough for the GReddy turbo setup?

Thanks
