97 1.8 turbo manifold and turbo combo. need help
Looking for a turbo and manifold for my 97 Na Miata. I want cast iron but so far no luck. If anyone knows a good cast iron turbo manifold and turbo that is small, looking to push 6-8 pounds at first. Please help
|
Where have you looked?
|
I have looked on the Internet , and I have looked at begi and seen the eBay ones. I just can't find a good manifold And a common turbo that I can use together.
|
You have Begi and FM for cast manifolds that use a T2 flange. You have eBay tacotaco if you want a t3 flange. Then you have Trackspeed Engineering if you want a t2 flange to work with an EFR turbo, you won't be running 5psi though with an EFR.
Those are your only 4 choices for cast manifolds. You can also check out my mkturbo group buy for a weld el log manifold that is reasonably priced. |

it depents on your definition of good.
both are strong and good quality. both will work for most setups IMO the begi is engineered for a tad bit better flow than FM, but the fm will get to you on time, and will fit, and be easier to install, and they won't make a billion stupid mistakes or forget to send you one altogether if you want the best FLOWING cast log it looks like TSE is going to be best in that department, and still fit most turbo's |

Since it fits the huge EFR, I don't expect to have any fitment issues with any Garret t25 turbos, but we won't know until they get out to customers. |
I'd be surprised if andrew hasn't already done that though, since he specifically said it fits other t2's as well.
if it's as good as it looks, I'll be recommending his to everyone going forward. if he makes a dp that's as good too, well that's just icing |
I want to run the sr20 turbo sense they are common to get, I also want a tubular manifold but just not sure who to go with. That will fit well with the sr20 turbo. I am doing an ac and power steering deleted so not worried to work around those.
|
I see no reason our manifold can't be used with a Garrett T25 (i.e. 2554/2560/2860/3071/etc). Once the EFR downpipes are in production, if there's demand for a Garrett T25 downpipe, we'll add one to the catalog.
|
Where can I buy a manifold then to hold a sr20 turbo
|
Check the classifieds, there are a lot of log manifolds out there

HKS is technically a top mount cast manifold.

It looks like the Taco taco T25 for the 1.8 has hit the market... 94 05 Miata MX 5 1 8 Liter T2 T25 T28 Cast Turbo Charger Exhaust Manifold Kit | eBay

What is that plate deal? Also are these pretty decent as far as flowage? I might try one or build my own weld el log turd manifold.

Looks like a heat shield that would attach to the valve cover

Shuiend if you could please let me know how the t25 tacotaco manifold fits and everything. Im looking to maybe get one in place of the fm one just until I have the money to get one and they are back in stock. Basically I'm thinking I can use tacotaco manifold, whatever t25 turbo and FM turbo outlet elbow and downpipe on my 99. I've had good luck with cast ebay manifolds in the past, just hoping it will work with the FM elbow and downpipe. Or maybe this knockoff FM elbow. Im sure it'll crack while installing it though.

That's cool. The manifold and heat shield pictured by fail wagon are the parts we built for our first Miata kit back in '90. We used them through about '96, then redesigned the system. "Cartech" was our biz name until about '93. Slightly on the crude side. No match for the A/O.

I have bought and installed the t3 turbo manifold. It is a copy of an old FM manifold(I think). It did require some machining to make it fit properly:

I also went through all of the threads with a tap just to make sure they were good. I've been tuning the car over the last couple of weeks, so far no problems. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1447994043 I did also have to make a custom elbow to use the FM T25 down pipe. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1447994043 |
