99 Motor Swap into NA6 Question
 

Before I get attacked with "go read" accusations, I have legitimately tried to do my research on this. I believe I have come up with the proper solution, but I wanted to ask on the forum to see if anyone has additional experience/ just as a sanity check.

Background:
I am pulling an old 99 turbo motor out of it's original chassis because the bearings got toasted in a rather annoying oil pressure gauge malfunction. The motor has the Flyin Miata turbo kit on it and was running a MS2PNP built by Braineack. From this motor, I plan to pull all of the aftermarket parts off and put them on a second forged internals, low compression 99 motor and put that combo into a 92 chassis. The 92 chassis runs and is bone stock. So that should give an idea of all of the pieces I am working with. (Basically a complete 99, a complete 92, and a new built 99 motor)

The Conclusion:
I was originally going to attempt to use my 99 MS2PNP to run the built motor in the 92 chassis, but upon further research, the engine harness and ECU are incorporated into the body harness a bit more elaborately than I originally thought. I just don't have the time/I am not very electronically savvy enough to hack up either of the original harnesses. So the conclusion that I have come to based on reading is that I should just suck it up and buy a new Megasquirt for the 92 and just use all of the 92 wiring to run the new built motor (with all of the appropriate 1.8 swap mods).

The Question:
Is this the easiest solution given the parts at my disposal? Is there something I am missing, and incorporating the 99 engine harness/ecu into the 92 body harness is actually really easy?

Yes, you should just use a 92 MS. Split the CAS into the ckp and cmp sensors on the NB engine.

I've done this before. To make the engine harness of the 99 work, you'll ideally want to use the entire charge and chassis harness too.

Splitting the CAS wiring to get ckp/cmp signal isn't bad if you want to use sequential later. But i would agree. Sell the 99 unit. Use the NA ms. What do you hope to gain dragging yourself over razors.
