Default Nissan turbo

Someone semi-locally has this turbo for sale. I have someone that could pick it up for me, and check for axial/shaft play (seller claims there is none).

He is advertising it as an SR20 turbo, but from what I've seen so far, it seems like most users here that have SR20 turbos still say Garrett on them and not Nissan Motors? So far, I've been searching for the DBB and journal bearing versions of the gt2560R (Garrett ID#s 91F00 or 69F00). All this guy is able to tell me is that it's from an SR20, and that the only visible numbers on the turbo are n83 and 19. It's also obviously been spray painted, and I think I can make out a chip or two in the blades. He's asking $200 OBO. Can anyone chime in with some advice/identification help?

Bought mine for $75. It needed a rebuild like this one does, and a had a stuck stud. Move on.

^^ chipped blades are not taken care of in a rebuild.

That thing looks horrible. I've got a legit SR20 turbo sitting somewhere in my garage plus a G Pop rebuild kit for said turbo that I spent all of about $200 in total to acquire. There are A LOT of these things out there, you can get a much nicer one for much less. Watch Nicco and the other Nissan forums. You can get a freshly pulled used one for $100~150 if you are quick.

Thanks. I've been watching Zilvia, but I'll add those to my list of sites to check as well. Passing on this one. The more research I seem to do on what each of these nissan/sr20 turbos, the more confused I have gotten. My current understanding is, this turbo is essentially a 2553, and therefore with a 225whp goal, this would not be the turbo for me. The "SR20 T28" turbos people sell, that are actual garrett turbos and not oem nissan and have garret IDs (91F00 or 69F00) would be DBB or journal bearing versions of the 2560, which would fit my power goals much better and have plenty of room for future increases.

Can someone confirm all above statements are correct? lol

I bought a freshly rebuilt SR20 turbo from this guy: www.JDS-PERFORMANCE-PARTS.com

I think it was about $300. Came out fantastic.

Looks like an RB25 turbo. Not worth it as they are a t3 like hot side and a t28 style cold side. They also have Ceramic blades that are known to explode with higher boost.

Thanks for all the tips/links/advice. Just bought a SR20 T25 (garret branded 0.80 a/r) off of a facebook group for $50, smoking and needs a rebuild. Will be buying a kit and following the guide Sam posted.
