After turbo install car stumbles and dies at idle
So I installed my turbo last weekend and I just can't figure out whats going on. Its starts and idles fine, but when I rev it and it comes back down it shows low vacuum and stumbles till it dies and its also pegging the wideband full rich.
Its a 99 with the new CX manifold/turbo/downpipe. I am running an AEM fic with RX8 420cc injectors and AEM wideband. Any ideas? This is killing me. |
Sounds like you do not have one or more of the following :
1. A way to meter air flow 2. A map sensor hooked up 2.5 An IAT sensor 2.9 a wideband O2 sending a good signal 3. A tune that is capable of running the engine Need more info bro. |

I was running this tune with these injectors prior to the install I think I'v figured it out, I have the maf connected directly to the turbo (due to ordering the wrong coupler). I have read about a bunch of people having the same issue from the maf being too close to the turbo inlet. I ordered the correct couplers to move it where I wanted it anyway. Also..interesting numbering system lol |

Do you have a blow off valve? Is is vented to atmosphere, or recirculated after the MAF? If your using a MAF, the blow off "air" must re-enter the intake tract after the MAF, but before the turbo. Otherwise, it is metered air that is calculated for fuel, but the air is not being used, resulting in a rich condition.

Subscribing because I will also be using an FIC.

Glad you got it sorted out. I have been running on the FIC for a while now in stock mode....can you post a pic of how you routed the MAF and which couplers you used?
Where did you source the VAC lines for the ECU? Is the VAC to the FIC used for anything else like a Boost gauge? |
