Pipes still arn't fitting in right.. I'm about to snap and start chopping up my radiator support

cjernigan 04-13-2007 03:36 PM

Chop it and rebrace it with a plate that covers the entire thing.

What size are both intercoolers?

jayc72 04-13-2007 04:22 PM

I think you need a bigger IC.

miatamania 04-13-2007 05:28 PM

fuck that was a HUGE intercooler.

Braineack 04-13-2007 06:30 PM

simply two 45° couplers might fix your problem.

Pitlab77 04-13-2007 08:33 PM

yeah i agree i was thinking just get differnt silicon hoses

Bevan 04-13-2007 09:18 PM

I can't see how your bonnet could possible close over those pipes! If it does, nice work!

And yeah, just some 45deg bends will fix that. :)

Has anyone tried a radiator that isn't as wide? Maybe a shorter rad aftermarket from a Civic or something that has a thicker core. That would allow the pipes to come in from the sides of the rad instead of over it.

I've seen some guys on here using that.. Not sure how wise that is for a track car though?

Pitlab77 04-14-2007 08:41 AM

my friend used a civic fluideyne (sp?) radiator for his FE3 turbo track car. Of course his track of choice was the 1320 so he did not have to worry about prolonged burst of throttle.

m2cupcar 04-14-2007 09:27 AM

I've got a narrower radiator and the cold side pipe passes through next to it. It's a dual 17x19 core - far more capacity than most Miata aftermarket. Just need to be sure the air is channeled thru the radiator and that it's got a decent capacity.
