air comin out of oil fill....
I removed my oil fill cap today while the car was Idling... and theres Air comin out... not just a little bit of air.... enough that I can hear it whooshing out.... This can't be good:crx: What's the problem?????
do a compresion check, gonna go with that you have some blowby(ring(s) leaking)
that shouldn't be a problem.... compression checked out just fine before the turbo install, and the car hasn't seen any boost yet... so I doubt that my rings are bad...
Bad PCV valve.
i'm hopin it's a bad PCV....
I had a brand new one (fram) that was bad out of the box.
but would a bad pcv cause pressurization at idle???? Imma go blow in it now...
I missed that bit, so probably not since it shoud be under vaccuum.

How's your driver-side crankcase vent hose routed?
has a breather filter on it...

that's normal... the whoosing isn't air pressurizing the crank case it's the sounds of the cams moving air and slinging oil. Every car I've owned with an oil filler on the valve cover has done this. It won't be turbo related since you shouldn't be boosting at idle. If you are I think you have far more severe problems to investigate.
Yes, it could be enitrely turbo-related, as he has put a breather filter on the cam cover crankcase vent which, on the stock setup, would've had a constant vacuum on it...he now has no vacuum on it whatsoever, so his crankcase is likely building up pressure. I'm not saying it's the main cause of the air coming out of the oil filler cap, but I bet you $10 that routing the crankcase vent properly would cause it to drastically reduce the air build-up in the crankcase and cam cover.

I'll try that this week! thanks much guys!

Brian must be the worlds foremost advacate of venting crankcases into the intake path
not that there's anything wrong with it. |

not that there's anything wrong with it. I can't even recall how many folks we've seen come in here and the "other forum" that've asked why their dipstick was popping out, their turbo was smoking, etc. |
Hey I know, It has happened to me too. We are just constantly going over this again and again.
