Almost there! :)

hey guys.. i was going to install my turbo and everything last night when i noticed that the bolts i had for my turbo manifold were rusted :vash: i was going to use them anyways.. but my "friends" had to beat me to the ground to stop me haha. my question to you guys is this.. where is a good place to buy the bolts for the manifold? i remember my friends telling me i need bolts that exceed grade 8 or something like that. it would be great if you guys gave me the bolt/thread size too. sorry for being such a newb :slap:
thanks!

my local ACE hardware sells automotive studs, that's what I used

i have grade 8 bicyle allen bolts.

I don't think grade 8s(or at least the metric equivalent) are really necessary for a manifold... it's not like it's an incredably high load point.

I use Stainless studs and Stainless acorn nuts. Never had a problem.

Whaddya mean bolts? Do you mean "Studs"... the short rod threaded on both ends that screw into the manifold, but hold the turbine housing to the manifold with nuts?

You've gotta know the thread pattern... my Begi uses M8x1.25 and my Garrett turbine housing also had that size.

I called Begi and Stephanie sent me a dozen for about $10.

+1, even some of my manifold to block & turbine to DP studs are from ACE.

thats a good deal mine where 2.50 apiece from ace

You want metric 10.9, metric 8.8 can break after repeated heat cycles. And a dozen for $10 bucks is an amazing price.

samnavy 01-31-2007 09:59 PM

I'm pretty sure it was around there... maybe $15... but if you're Begi and buy them in boxes of 1000, and are as awesome with customer support as they are, and the guy calling just spent $750 on a mani and DP, they get cheaper.

thanks for your input!

i have an iron cast replica of the greddy turbo manifold.. would that use the same bolt size as the begi?

flyineunos 02-01-2007 03:00 AM

oh and im talking about the bolts for the manifold to the block..

flyineunos 02-01-2007 02:43 PM

anybody? :(

flyineunos 02-01-2007 03:39 PM

Thanks Braineak.. ill go try out the sizes you told me....

Anybody else have any inputs? :)
