antsy. with reintroduction and update.

hi again... this place has grown since I last looked.

so i spent yesterday afternoon on my back re-installing my transmission and a new clutch (replaced the disks on my tilton twins) and I'm getting anxious to get the car back together and put the turbo back in. the problem though is that it's nearly winter. which sucks.

in the mean time, i'm ditching the air/water intercooler in favor of a BEGi semi-custom jobby (working through that with stephanie at the moment). I'll probably go with the "system 2" sized core for now and some custom piping in and out of the motor.

I also have to clean up the exhaust flanges and fit my V-band clamps in where the 3-bolt(s lost) flanges are. Some day I will even have the water injection up and running.

it's good to be back... and have more than 5 posts.

Matt

PS I'll have more pics of the tilton twin plate setup soon. primarily of the custom parts.

Good to have you back, seems like this forum grows more and more every day. I too have to take my tranny out soon....I didnt install a new throwout bearing when i did it last time and now its making all kinds of noise...so i have that to look forward to.:td:

how could you forget a $30 part on a $500 job? doh. I have a spare that's covered in black goo if you want it...

anyway, after easily lining up and mating my tranny, I realized my setup wasn't workin right. I pulled it back out and my clutch cover has a cracked diaphragm spring.

Well there goes another week.

Welcome back Matt. Looking forward to before and after comparisons - and pics of course. :bigtu: -rob

just to clarify rob, before and after what? I'm more "between" now...

Just don't put the clutch disk in backwards. BTDT.

ummmmm, you mean again?

the twin plate disks I use have offset hubs. the instructions say to face the hubs out (toward the transmission) for whatever reason (to clear flywheel bolts?). but since the assembly is taller than stock, it puts those hubs about ohhh 3/8 or so further into the tranny than the release bearing boss.

imagine the swearing trying to assemble the transmission with that much part interference and just enough give to try it anyway. heh. then imagine the swearing when i found out why. then imagine the swearing when I realized what the tilton disks cost (you know, cuz I made mine cone-shaped)! glad I dont use them anymore and no longer follow directions.

heh heh.

air to water TO air to air... and then the water injection

word. I'll let everyone know what's up. of course all I have are a few datalogs of the water/air setup at moderately low PSI but you bet.

It would be interesting to see your a/w intercooler readings compared to the the a/a.

y8s the BAMO boys are missing you and wondered why you're MIA.

I agree on the WI - was never really interested until I started reading about it when this "group buy" popped up. Just have other places to spend that dough.
