any experience with v-band exhaust setups?
I'm debating on a v-band downpipe setup with the new t3 and was wondering if anyone has any insight on this? ATP has some beautiful parts I have my eye on! http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=BCS

v-band is the new fad in exhaust systems. no gaskets, and they line up the piping perfect pretty much.... plus it is only one bolt instead of 2 or 3 that can be hard to get at.
you should also check out the prices at www.mandrel-bends.com adam is a great guy to deal with. were you going to put the v-band directly on the exhaust housing? |
my exhaust is v band all the way and i love it!!!! do it, it will save you time and many gaskets in the future
|
V-band at the turbo to DP would be nice. otherwise, it only takes me 2 bolts to drop my exhaust from the DP itself.
|
I'd gone vband everywhere, but the budget was too tight. I picked up 3 bolt 3" flanges for $2 each and $5 each for copper. When I go with an IWG the turbine flange will definitely be Vband tho.

v-band is a muct IMO, it save you so much time, scraped knuckles, gaskets, etc. It is a bit more pricey, but not as pricey as ATP $175wtf. You can score v-bands from ebay as well, only thing that sucks is that most of them have mild flanges and SS bands...

I built my whole setup with V bands. soooooooooooooooo much easier to R&R and seals way better. no gaskets anywhere after my manifold is the bomb.
Plus you can rotate the joints to perfectly line everything up and prevent rattling. so what if they're $75 a set? |
here's a housing i did for a customer:

wow, that sux!!! They are expensive as shit!
If that flange was cheap I'd score it from you and ceramic coat it with my housing and manifold and not worry about it. I plan to make one myself though since I already have the flange. Weir-those welds look the hottness!!! |
You need an ext wastegate to make that turbo to flange V band right?
Weir, I don't want to be a mofo, it's just a comment that I want to make but... Crank the amps out! Those welds seem pretty cold. Your flange as no color at all. |
V-band is the only way to go!
|
If they weren't so much money I'd be using them on the new downpipe and exhaust. I just can't afford $35 vbands right now compared to $8 flanges.

I like wide truck exhaust clamps. $8 from ebay and no need to weld anything.
Here you get the big picture. http://www.russmarshall.com/v/cars/c...geViewsIndex=1 hrk |

Why don't you take a few minutes and look around the ATP site!
