I don't want to worry about blowing up rear ends or stripping off gear teeth. I have a 91, but an '01 rear end and I have the 01 transmission too, and the 1.8 of course. 9psi should get me to arround 200whp right, and I should not have to worry about building transmission stuff right?

5speed or 6 speed? If its the 5 speed tranny it could go at any time....but generally its capable of holding 250-275whp with some mechanical empathy. The rear would be good well into the 300's, as long as you keep wheel hop at bay.

run crappy tires and you'll never break the drivetrain... of course you'll waste all the excess power on tire smoke, but that's a minor inconvenience. I havn't heard of anyone killing the 6 speed yet, I don't think it's limit is know at the moment. The 5 speed as mentioned by Andy is right around 250 depending on how hard you beat on it.

I wond ever drag race the car, and will probably never "launch" it. 250whp is more than enough for me, I want it to be reliable and not have to deal with forged parts. Thanks for the input.
