Is anyone as confused by this setup as I am?
91 mazda miata
Spotted this bad boy earlier today. Anyone know what intake manifold this guys is running? Kinda looks like a greddy knock off, and is pretty badass. Also, does this guy not know what he has, or is this thing just done up so wrong and waiting to explode? |
Looks like a $3000 project to me.

"Im selling my miata cause i have no need for it at this moment, it has a fully built engine it has wisko eagle rods has 9/1 compresion and its ready for a new owner.. It has a hard top and a fresh paint job"
What are wisko eagle rods? Fully built...by who? With what? When? 9/1...spell it right. 9.0:1. If this thing wouldn't have a turbo, I bet it would have "headers". Because headers get pluralized when there is only 1. Ask that guy what fuel management it has. If there is no megasquirt, or any other kind of proper management other than a rising rate fpr, hang up the phone. |
If you really think the "guy doesn't know what he has" then you deserve to get stuck with a heap of crap like this one. I don't know what you find so cool about that IM either: looks like it has very short runners and a giant plenum which would result in no lowend torque and since its a 1.6 on a small turbo it probably doesn't have any topend either.
Just looks like a hack job done by someone not too bright and he's trying to unload it on someone cause he realized how fail it is. |
ive seen it before, i cant remember where. I would scoop that up for 3k, go there check it out. he was probably posting it from his phone. see if he has receipts. im sure parting it out you would get over his asking price.

I'm interested in the intake manifold and not much else. Turbo headers looks like a typical ebay unit, which is a log manifold with the turbo stuck in the middle at a 45* angle. Greddy is top mount and more lined up with cylinder #3 than between #2 and #3. And obviously the ebay unit will crack.
Like other's have said I'd be concerned about the fuel management. If you really wanted a turbo miata, I'd ask the seller for $2250, spend $750 on a MS/injector setup, and spend $1500 at Artech. You'd have a pretty nice setup for $4000. This is assuming that intake manifold, intercooler setup, engine, transmission, differential, turbo, wastegate, blow off valve, oil drain, and other misc. parts are up to the task. |

whoops, $4500. What's an extra

I'd buy it. Hardtop nets 600-800 right off the bat, plus the interior looks clean.
