Anyone has any ideas on this kit?

doesn't look too bad for $1619. i beat i can even get dealer discount (yes, i am officially aftermarket parts dealer)

Mechazawa 08-31-2007 04:37 PM

There was a thread about it in the past, someone had seen it in person. I don't think they left with a very high opinion of it.

UrbanSoot 08-31-2007 04:43 PM

well... i ordered it. lets see what it will do.

UrbanSoot 08-31-2007 04:45 PM

i definitely dont expect anything uber awesome for that kind of money. as long as manifold and turbo are good im happy.
manifold is cast manifold with about 1/4 inch thickness and turbo is garrett bb t25

Mechazawa 08-31-2007 04:49 PM

I am sure you can make it work, do the community a favor and document it well, so others will know what to expect from it in the future.

UrbanSoot 08-31-2007 04:55 PM

definitely!

I don't see many of the items in the picture (IC, BOV, etc.) are not listed in the description. Are you sure that they are included?

UrbanSoot 08-31-2007 05:15 PM

i have intercooler, hks bypass valve, water injection, and megasquirt. so i only need basic components. oh, and i got it with dealer discount too!

UrbanSoot 08-31-2007 05:15 PM

ps: all those components are included in their extreme kit. superior kit comes with only basics.

search for miata 1.8L and you will see turbo specialties in the list. that kind of gives me hope :)

Ugh shit. Bad feeling when I clicked the link. I'm not saying you made a good or bad decision, but theres a car at work (corolla) that has a turbo specialties kit and it's less than optimal. It fucking sucks. And the customer service is awesome sometimes, and garbage others. They can't use email apparently.

That I/C looks like a stock evo. Weird. Nice BOV, think it'll be loud with the horn on the end of it. Wonder if it recirculates. Sorry man, I just don't like it. Sorry to sound like a dick, it's just that the "kits" out there use the parts they have available and then they call it "extreme" and overcharge you. They use the same bb T25 on a 1.6L miata and a 3.0L lexus IS300. That's just not cool.

If you're "officially (an) aftermarket parts dealer" than could you piece together your own kit for cheaper? Good luck either way dude.

This is cool though

UrbanSoot 09-01-2007 12:08 AM

well... i dont really deal with that kind of crap. i mostly deal with car stereos/computers/wheels

besides, all i care about is to see how good it is and if it is, then i will use some parts of it, add megasquirt, and call it my own name :)

UrbanSoot 09-01-2007 12:15 AM

by the way, im going to attach "duck call" to my bov :)
check youtube to see how it sounds ;)

UofACATS 09-01-2007 12:15 AM

Oh, sorry to misinterpret your original post.

Your plan sounds fine.

I dont like the turbo elbow or downpipe at all. They dont look like they would flow well at all.

I must say, that is the best thing I have ever seen in my entire life!

It makes it sound like there is a duck in the exhaust pipe and it is in excruciating pain whenever you rev it. I want one:gay:.

Do they actually sell those?

Oh and can you hook us ppl up with lots of sweet after market stuffs? Engine management?

And ok looking kit, I hope that it proves to be good. But hey, it's cheap and you got it even cheaper!

+
https://www.miataturbo.net/group-buys-member-discounts-23/atp-turbo-parts-clamps-couplers-bends-turbos-etc-5352/ (IC pipe bends, couplers n' clamps)

= a damn good start for a setup with real potential. Lets see, that would come out to around $200 IC, $500 Manifold, $300 Downpipe, $180 turbo, $100 feed/return, $70 pipe couplers + tbolt clamps. The grand total thus far would be $1350, leaving $250 on the table for IC piping and various little stuff you dont expect and I cannot forsee. If you cannot weld, expect it to cost around $300 for an experienced shop to make a mandrel bend IC pipe setup for you.

After this, fueling and ignition timing must be addressed, but that turbo specialities kit apparantly does not provide for that, and even if it did I would not trust it. To address this on a budget with some wiring, soldering, and electronics skills I suggest buying a MSv3 kit and building/wiring it yourself. A boomslang harness helps a lot, call em up. Otherwise, for less complication, go with an FPR, Fuel pump, and injectors as you need em.

I could go on and on and on .... but im finished until theres a response to let me know whats needed to know. Oh and Im sorry If it seemed like I bashed your purchase, I hope it goes well. :) - ryan
