Anyone use a DSM turbo?

I am putting together a system with a dsm turbo from an eclipse, anyone else done systems with a similar turbo? I know a few of you have used 14b, and 16g turbos, id really like to see some pics of manifolds and down pipes that you guys may have used to created. Im about to make these and just wanted some ideas. I know there is a 16g kit going on e-bay that has the turbo mounted above at a bit of an angle like the greedy kit, but i was considdering making a log with the turbo mounted below.. Has anyone done this with a dsm turbo? Id love to see some pics.

Thanx

That's how mine is done. Well, how it will be done. The manifold and downpipe arrive tomorrow. They are a custom job from Tony that I bought second-hand. I'll let you know how it goes with that orientation once I start installing.

why are you guys so down on the megan racing stuff? cracking issues? looks like they use some pretty thin material. i guess there are some fitment issues?

Personally, I don't call it a POS. Just suspect.

It's the cheapest thing you can find. For a reason. The runners are quite thin. Turbo location could be better. The downpipe (mine anyway) points slightly "up" as it travels towards the back of the car, and I had to cut off the factory d/p brace. The gaskets are super high quality though :gay:

Someone good could copy the design out of thicker material. Probably sell like mustangs.

magnamx-5 11-06-2006 03:16 PM

yeah they are good you just need to be carefull with them the DP angle is a definate issue i havent heard of any that where bent right from the factory ever still bang for the buck the flanges go for 100 bucks and the gaskets for 20-30 i like m mitsubishi dealer replacement parts better than the supplied gaskets they just seem tougher.

hey u-of-a, is there a miata club down there in tucson?? i live in mesa... and i havent found much as far as miata clubs go around here...

UofACATS 11-06-2006 08:10 PM

You know, I'm not really up to date on the club happenings. It doesn't help that my miata is on stands either, but I did poke around when I first got it awhile back and found one club. It was described as "more of a tea and crumpets club rather than a burning rubber club" which means I'll fit in perfectly :ughug:

A couple heads down here have contacted me through this site, I'm calling them for a get together as soon as I'm running and my car doesn't look like it's been smashed by some dork in a truck.

If I have to, I'll start a club myself. Call it: fuck tea and crumpets

Also, probably one of the best ways to meet the dudes you want to is to go to any track days. Here, SIR is all I got (strip). Gotta drive to Phoenix to get a "track".

adbradley 11-06-2006 09:08 PM

hahahahahha yeah, miatas were not made for tea, hell they dont even have cup holders

Dange 11-09-2006 01:11 AM

well there are a couple groups i ride with, i make 2 meets a week here in tucson plus a monthly drive. all laid back but like to push it too. one group is extremely ---- about new members had too many problems with dips**ts about running people off the road so they are careful, and another group that is prone to leave you a note on your windshield.. well if you have an AWD... i just ride with them because i know em and they feel the more the merrier

UofA you're thinking about oldpueblo miata club? yeah they are the kind that thinks 5-10 under the speedlimit is fast and like to put along to go get tea...

UofACATS 11-09-2006 11:47 AM

"old pueblo" heh, that's sounds like them. I'm not gonna hate on them though, I don't even know them.

AZAWD.org, you on there? I'm on ClubDSM_SW if your familar
I've been to the DSM meets/BBQs. Irregular schedule though.

Sometime, in the distant future, my FWD is going to magically become an AWD. I'm too much of a broke ass to think about it now. A new DD is in the plans as soon as I land one of these new jobs I'm aiming for. Thinking '06 WRX. Nice DD if you ask me.

Still going to get some IA dyno time one things are together, let you know.

Dange 11-09-2006 07:17 PM

yeah azawd is one of the 2 groups, i have known the founders for a while, since they were basically azlancers. they have thier weekly meet on fridays, however this weekend its going to be on sunday and there guitar hero 2, gears of war, xbox halo tourny, drinking etc to be found, look it up and stop by you can check out my slow miata!

i am also sending you a pm with the info on the other group, you cant really join till you have been on at least one ride with them and they approve. ive been with them for actually i think its over 2 years.
its really not all that hard to be approved either, just dont drive like you have your head in your rectum, i mean i got in while driving a lowered nissan minitruck!! i had some 245/45/15 yoko es100s on it and the rubber would get so soft you could sink your nail in it :bigtu: but i managed to keep up!

but we have had people that try to show off, as in passing on a blind corner down the road to arivaca sliding out and running a minivan containing a family with kids off the road...... thats why we are so ---- about it, we try to stay low key and draw as little attention to us as possible but we do like to have fun!
here is a pic of a standard meet
