Default Arashi turbochargers. Has anyone tested them?

I was wondering if anybody has tested out these turbochargers.
I am thinking about them because I need a direct replacement of a gt28 turbo and they offer a nice variety of choices for a t28 setup with my 2.5 swap on my NC.

$600+, broken English, plentiful OEM Garret's......why would you even consider wasting time and money on that?

Sorry my bad. I mean a direct replacement for 430whp . The garrett price range lands at about 1300-1500$ .(gtx2867 - gt3071 with t25 flange etc)

EDIT: Even more at atpturbo.com

Anything that comes with 7 different wastegate springs for under $700 is trash.

>Buy Chinese turbos
>Create a brand with a Japanese sounding name
>Pretend to be legit
>Charge big price premium
>Take advantage of market segment that is budget conscious and simultaneously afraid of the dreaded "chinacharger"

They do their own wheels and covers, and largely use Mitsu OEM CHRAs. Years ago it was pointed out that their parent is the same company that manufactures Tomei's ARMS series of turbos. They aren't new-tech hotness, but they're older style Mitsu centers with custom compressor pieces. Probably work fine. Journal bearing, billet impeller, etc. I know several people in the Subaru community that have used these over the years, and it's speculated that they are even what Cobb rebrands for their private label turbo upgrades. It'll work fine, but it's old. That's why it's cheaper. There's lots of companies that sell this sort of half-custom turbo.

That being said, you'd probably shouldn't cop such an attitude when asking for advice and opinions. You asked about an off-brand product at a place that sackrides the name-brand stuff.

That's a legit answer. Attitude comes from the generic semi-knowledge answers.

It's a legit answer because it's more in line with the pre-conceived notion that you really only asked a question to have someone fortify, not get actual answers.

In the context of the thousands of dollars it takes to turbo AND swap an NC, i don't understand why these are even part of the discussion. A legit Garrett is like... the same price looking at the big picture. From what Ryan says, these look like good turbos for about $350.

Legit non-efr Borg Warners are available for 650-700. Why would someone buy a turbo with all of the important parts being made in China for the same price?

Yeah but those don't come with pretty colors on the WGA or 7 springs. Literally unpurchaseable.

My setup has finished two years ago and I am running a solid 330hp with a real Garrett.
I saw Arashi on ebay and looked like a good deal because I will keep my trouble free ss T25 manifold and my 3" downpipe. The bottom mounting turbo is a PITA in the NC so I need a direct replacement of a classic t25 mount . Gt2867-gt2871 etc won't work well they are a bit small for the 2.5 so I cannot justify the cost for a turbo that may not work ideally. A good solution is the gt3071 with the t25 mount.

If the Arashi are total junk obviously I have no need for them (I have spent thousands on my DIY setup) but I would like to hear a legit opinion from someone(If there is someone) who actually tried them, in terms of reliability mainly, because on paper the specs are fine.

It is easy to say yo bro this iz jank dood and offer semi knowledge across the board . The thread has been created for information not for flamming.
From my perspective they offer an interesting package in case you need a direct replacement turbo for weird setups like mine where is difficult to fit a proper turbo. You can't see the picture here . That's fine.
Of course there are great 600$ turbo choices if you make a turbo kit from scratch(precision, Borg Warner Holset)
