Avo Turbo still needs work
 
I got the AVO "kit" that was up on Flyin Miata not that long ago....

excellent bargan...probably will allow me to build one of the cheapest, good looking, well manufactured DIY kits.

However, I have to change my turbo because of it. T3 no longer matches up, and I could get an adapter and get a new DP. but I want to use the dump from AVO until I feel I can spend the money for a better DP. I need a good source for a t25 with .42 a/r or well the one used in the AVO kit. I found a R32 turbo is a good size and dual ball bearing as well as having a ceramic exhaust wheel. Great turbo...hard to find.

In any case. I have a bipes modified MSD box with bipes l.e.d. display. As well as a Vortech FMU. All that's missing is a turbo, boost controller, some gauges and a IC. I have a RX-7 turboII IC that i originally intended to use but so far i'm really not sure I can make it work.

Any suggestions on everything would be great and thought I'd share on my good fortune. As for above mentioned parts I've only payed about 600

Anyway this is what I got from FM.
because i had to change my plans I do have a SAAB 900 turbo IC with metal end tanks and DSM 450 injectors and my T3 turbo which is my avatar.

source yourself a t25/t28 that fits and you have yourself a nice kit. Plus you'll still need to fab a downpipe, unless that turbine outlet adapter fits the stock pipe, which I dont think it does.

thanks for the picture sourcing...i guess my picture link didn't work? In any case I have no idea whether the dump pipe matches up to stock exhaust or not...I really hope it does but there are very few ways to find out...especially since very few people have the kit.

If I have to make a new dowpipe I might just keep my T3 since it's a small quick spooling .48 and get an adapter plate so it mounts to the manifold.

problem with that is it's going to make the turbo sit about 2-3 inches out further. it's going to stress the manifold and make everything out of alignment. Easier to find a cheap t25 and sell the t3.

It doesn't have to... A 1/2" steel plate would do the job... Simply use countersunk screws to secure the adapter plate to the manifold and pin them so that the adapter plate cannot work loose. Welding a steel plate to the manifold is possible as well with the correct welding process. Which would eliminate any issues with screws or bolts.

true, I was going by the pre-made adapters which have about a 1" runner between both flanges.

Seems like it'd be easier to get a t2x turbo, use the existing downpipe and just get a muffler shop to make your connection between the dp and existing exhaust. Several have done that here and it's a relatively cheap solution.

That all depends on if you own a TIG welder, bandsaw and a drill press. For me, it would be easier to go out to the garage, grab the manifold and bake it at 450 for a few hours (although the wife might object to using the stove to bake a manifold.) and then weld a 1/2" plate to it and surface it.
