Beating a dead horse: manifold question
 

Okay I know the SSautojunk has been totally beat into the ground, but I'm curious to know... those that have had them crack, where are they cracking? Mid pipe, at a weld, flange, the flange itself cracking?

I got one for 20$ brand new and I'm wondering if I could beef it up and have it hold.. Sorry for bringing the damn thing back up again, I spent about an hour searching but couldn't find any specifics. Thanks!

they crack where the tubes meet the main flange area.....but can crack in other places Ive heard...My main problem with it was the flange and breaking studs off....but thats a whole nother subject.

I've never had one. The pictures i see of them crack show them cracking at the flages and in the middle of a tube no where near a weld. The gauge of steel used is very thin and doesn't respond well to heat cycles. People use them and just weld them up when they crack. If you don't mind welding it might be worth the saved money to you.
Like i said though, i don't own one and never have. Might be worth fabbing up a brace to support the turbo weight to relieve a little stress.

actually a Turbo brace might be a good Idea......I might have to think of a way to do that to take some stress off my studs....just whonders where to mount and if the heat transfernce will be of impact.

From the back of the turbine(DP flange) to the valve cover would work. Do a search, there are some pictures of peoples on here.

Thats what I'm thinking maybe just go over all the welds then fabricate up some good bracing. I actually own a china long tube header thats on a supercharged miata with over 10,000 miles on it now without ANY problems... It was a MOTHER to get the EGR tube connected, but it was a HUGE improvement. The steel is VERY VERY Thin on that, and I actually expected it would crack very quickly but hasn't yet! We run the piss out of that car, but I'd bet with the AFR its runnin EGTs are very low.
