Default BEGI DP question

Well, its friday and Im pretty sure that they are closed by now so I'll ask here. I just got a manifold and one of the new style DP's, which is beautiful btw. I won't be getting a 3" enthuza exhaust as soon as I had hoped, post winter break now, but still would like to do the rest of my install over break. So on to the question... I know that the end of the dp has a 2.75" openning. Are the bolt holes on the flange still the same as the stock cat. Would I easily be able to bolt up the dp to the stock cat, and would any special gasket or anything be needed to do the job?

Before you install the DP you may want to look at the location of the WBO2 bung if you will be using it. Mine is near the cat and points the sensor downward quite a bit. I cannot safely drive the car with the wbo2 installed without constant fear of ripping it off. I have not contacted BEGI about the issue yet as I'm waiting to take pics of it...but I'm hoping it was a mistake. If this design is intentional you may want to weld in your own bung.

My cat is not stock so I cannot help you out in that regard.

Sorry I can't help you much, as my car is at BEGi right now. If I were you, I'd send an email over to Stephanie at BEGi. Her email address is stepht@bellengineering.net. If you send her an email you'll probably get an answer before the weekend is over.

Good luck to you.

Just went out and looked at my Begi DP. I've got an aftermarket stock cat and a Borla Dual cat-back. The flange on the Begi looks like it will hook up perfect.

direct fit high flow cats from carsound/magnaflow can be had for about $65 shipped from performancepeddler.com if it doesn't match up you may want to consider that option.

the direct fit Maganflow cat is 2" in/out, I wouldn't suggest it. However I can source you guys cheap universal ones.

It may have been something that was configured differently on your car than the car it was mocked up on. I am sure that they would be happy to fix the problem for you. After all, for them, putting the bung anywhere you want it would be trivial... (which doesn't help those who are welding challenged) but that will likely be the solution. They're really understanding over there and have always treated me right...

Shipping the dp to BEGi & back will cost more than going to a local muffler shop to get a bung welded on.

I guess there is an advantage to living driving distance from Corky's shop.

You could always come for a visit. I'll even pick you up from the airport. There is a direct flight from BWI to San Antonio (and back) twice a day on Southwest. I fly it often for work.

There is always someone at the shop on Saturday and Sunday.

My O2 bung points down too, but I haven't had any problems hitting it yet. My car is very mildly lowered, about 12.5". You can see the wire hanging if you look close...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...iata/02788.jpg

The DP did bolt up to my stock cat.

Edit: here you can kind of see how it's the same flange, as well as the bung with the plug in it.

mine looks slightly different than yours, must be because it is for a 1.6. My 2nd bung is definately not pointed down like that but to the side like it should be. The only problem with mine is that the 2 bars where you are supposed the put the 4" bolt are too far apart. I'm not sure if putting that bolt if is really necessary to holding everything together. If you guys think it is then I'll just go buy a longer 5" bolt.

I've been running without that bolt for about 4000 miles, never got around to buying a longer one. It was a tight fit to push the two pieces together.
