Begi Kit install
 

Well I should be home soon, and I will be putting the kit on along with a friend. My question is, would I be able to install a BEGI Kit over the course of a weekend? And how much downtime would I be looking at on the car?

What I will be installing is the BEGI Stage one kit with with GT2560R turbo upgrade, Cool Airbox, Radiator cover, and BEGI fuel system. Wastegate is already preset to 8 PSI. I will bump my timing back to about 10 degrees to start off with until I get some sort of timing control. Bipes or MSD/ or AEM FCIC. Also I will be installing a centerforce dual friction clutch, OEM Crank pulley, and a new set of Azenis. This will be going on my 1996 Base.

Stuff that will be left over is a JR CAI, a powercard TC2, and a .8 Lb fuji racing LW pulley. Not sure if anyone at home has dibs on any of that yet, but after I figure out who wants what I will post some stuff in the for sale section.

My guestimate is 2 weekends, but if anyone has completed something like this quicker feel free to give me some tips. (Also the engine will be getting pulled to replace some seals for prevenative maintenence. First weekend will be The clutch and seal install, and the 2nd weekend will be the Turbo kit install.

what is your mechanical aptitude/experience? As a retired mechanic I can put a turbo kit on in a day, but usually do it over a weekend to take it easy on my back.

If you're just a DIYer, then 2 weekends should be enough.

probably take someone who knew what the were doing 2-3 hours tops for just the turbo install.

clutch will add 3-5 hours, and pulley if you gotta do the timing belt and whatnot, another few.

I can pretty much do anything as long as there are directions. My friend will be providing guidence and supervision over the install. Hes pretty well versed in turbo installs from what I understand. He's done lots of engine pulls, and installs. We should be alright, I think 2 weekends should be good.

I`ve drive the S3. You can make only your complete BEGI kit in 8 hours the user manuell is very simple and good.

If you need help over the weekend, sometimes Corky is at the office. Otherwise, we do have an after hours cell # for turbo install help. Call me to get that info. :)

See this is why I went with BEGI.
Stephanie helped me pick out exactly what I wanted, and got it all in the price range I was willing to spend. (Not to mention I was able to order it all over the phone, from a deployed location.) Corky also answered some questions that I had about his fuel system that sold me on it. :bigtu:

Fm would not even give me an aprox. ship date, and said I would have to pay for my kit in full before I even got put on the waiting list. :squint: :td:
