So i just ordered my MegaSquirt like 5min ago and now im ready to order a wideband.

Im just not sure which to get??

The LC-1 or the AEM UEGO?

ive seen that lots of people here use both

I like the fact that the AEM kit comes with EVERYTHING like the A/f's guage that has the LED meter. and all for $200
i was looking at this one on ebay:

Then there is the LC-1 which is advertised all over MS's website. im just really confused. is the LC-1 the only wideband that works with MS?
i found a buy it now auction that included everything like the AEM but the guage is digital that only reads out the a/f numbers.
Im a more type of visual person so i like how the AEM guage has the LED bar that shows if your going to lean or rich.

i dont know about the aem one, but the lc1 db gauge, which you can get with the lc1 sensor/controller as a package deal comes with a gauge. It shows you actual numbers, and you can calibrate it. The aem you cannot.

The aem one on the other hand is much easier to wire up.

You can use pretty much any wideband with a linear output with the MS, including the AEM. The LC-1 just happens to be the most popular.

I bought the AEM originally because it came with a display. It works OK, but the output seemed to drift slightly. I replaced it with an LC-1 and an XD-16, and what a difference! The display on the XD-16 updates much faster and more smoothly, and the analog output is dead-on-***** accurate. It's a bit more wiring, and a bit more money, but so far I'm very happy with it.

Wow, thats a great price on the AEM! I bought one myself for $225 in a group buy a while back.

I really like it, though havent installed it yet. It comes with everything you need; the gauge, the WBO2 sensor, the weld in bung for the sensor, all the wiring, and the most important functional part, the stickers.

The wiring is shielded quite nicely, and theres like 4-5 feet of it, so it wont come up short.

I vote for the LC-1. I know a few guys who run MS with a LC-1 and they have had no issues at all.

I run a LM-1 (not with a MS), and it has worked flawlessly so far.

I picked up the AEM one from that guy last week when I thought I was going to do the AEM F/IC. Gonna do a megasquirt instead so I'll report back but I expect it to work just fine.

The ebay seller is a good one too, fast and no problems.

Every kit or setup that I know of uses the same Bosch O2 sensor. They come standard on VWs and Audis (lucky bastards), so they are OEM quality and mass produced. This is awesome, because it makes them cheaper, easier to get, and you know that they are out there and used all the time.

EDIT: One of the guys on my mx6 board ran a JAW on his 1G MX6 and had nothing but trouble with it. That's the only experience I've heard from it, so take that with a huge grain of salt.

I did.

Ran great for about two weeks. Sparked and smoked to death.

It was my test to see if I can build a MS. I will be buying one assembled.

there are issues with both, but I ended up settling on the aem.

after two faulty units. confirmed and rma'd from innovate I finaly gave up with it and bought a uego.

so lc1 issues:
very, very finicky with grounds, voltage and noise. can be quite tough to get all of these things stable in a 20 year old car. in my experience (others will disagree) shotty quality. as I said that is my experience.

AEM issues:
slower reaction times. you may have to fiddle with the ms configurator to get it dead on with megatune. not to big of a deal. afr targets in mt are in volts. easily converted to afr by following Joes guidelines(unless you have a vista machine) or using innovate linear 0_5v setting. No way to recalibrate.

so take those for what you will, but that is my take on it.

soooooooooo...should i go for the uego? or the lc-1 such a hard choice.

i like how everyone says that the lc-1 works good with the mspnp but what about the uego?

are they both just as hard to wire up?

do they read the same?

Had a an lc-1, burned out, replaced it with an aem.

Fellow mspnp guy up here (ya theres only a few around) was using lc-1, burned out, replaced with aem.

Pretty happy with it so far.

I bought an LC-1 because it was recommended by DIY. I did some research and read the nightmares people have had with the LC-1 and decided to sell it. Got an AEM off EBAY and have been happy since. Google "innovate LC-1 problem" and "UEGO problem" and compare.
People talk about the LC-1 being faster, but the AEM response seems instant. I don't know how much faster it can get.

learn to hook your **** up right and the lc-1 is great.

solder every ground together on one lug (i'm guilty of not doing this ****, twice)
use the right power wire that stays on during cranking.
