Begi T3 Manifold - need measurement

Can someone running a newer style Begi T3 manifold take a measurment for me? I am trying to determine if the turbo I have (T3/T04E 50 trim) will fit without cutting the framerail lip on the car. I have possible future plans for this car which prohibit that type of modification and need to know if I should go with an ETD shorty setup instead. The measurment I need is from the center shaft of the turbo to the framerail lip. Thanks.

cutting really depends on simply where you want the outlet to point....

Similar to what you posted, I don't have PS or A/C and want it to be similar routing to what I have now.

What is the outer diameter of that comprssor housing? I'm pretty sure my T4 50 trim is larger, but maybe not. I think it is 6 3/4-6 7/8".

ill measure a spare housing i have at home tonight...

Hey Brain, where did you get that lower radiator hose? Whats the specific name of it?

jayc72 03-12-2008 05:59 PM

This is the info for it I had written down:

Gates
Flex-Form
FF251
1 1/4" X 20"

I was able to get a similar hose from a local autoparts place.

yep dat's the one..

my housing measures about 6" in diameter.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna need one of those in the near future. I wanna get rid of that metal piece that takes up room.

Thanks, about how much clearance do you have before it hits the lip?

is it notched just slightly to the right of the turbo or is that an irregular bump in the rail?

Braineack 03-12-2008 10:56 PM

it looks notched cause i cut out the bracket to hold the lower coolant pipe....

if you see any of the 2860 or 3071s on the same manifold it needs notching....

I would ask Bell to Mill the manifold down on both sides to get the thing to clear. Taking material off the turbine housing and both sides of the manifold would certainly make things easier.

Additionally, if you were feeling "tricky" you could bore out a small T3 housing to fit the T4 compressor wheel. LOL, that's where the fun really begins!

been there, done that. shop fucked it up and the blades hit the wall...then they tried to blame it on me for clocking the turbo to fit on my manifold...because they have such tight tolerances...I told them it's a wonder manhole covers work so well.

It's a wonder that every other turbo on the planet can be clocked without incident! Is their lathe out of round? Morons, I hope you didn't let them get away with that crap.

for the record, what shop is it that everybody needs to avoid?

mjmturbos.com.

I eventually got my money back, took a few months. i sent the turbo back. But after i took the new turbine housing and CHRA with the 360° thrust bearing. :fawk:

funny thing was, i originally ordered a straight up T3 60 trim.

although, if i had known better that the time....this should have made me run away :

If you will take super 60, then you need .42 stage 3 and .60 a/r compressor and cost $450. + shipping.
A regular .48 a/r and .42 intake compressor is $399. + shipping complete.

took a month to get delivered, what i ended up with was a 60 trim T4 wheel as seen above on the left. my stupid ass didn't run away when the required a MO to pay and wouldn't take a CC, i wonder why :jerkit:

first drive around the block it made a horrible noise...i sent them the video of it and this was the reply:

Sounds that the blades hits the wall.
Some serious problem in the turbo. Definitely the turbo is making the sound.
You have to send that turbo now to be diagnozed.
Send to our shop:
Udo Marx
11535 Sipsey Valley road N.
Buhl Al. 35446
Before you take the turbo out, snap a picture and send it to me.
You have to take picture. Do not waste time.

Important: You have to indicate the problem inclose in the box.

sent it back....gave me the run around blamed it on the clocking because they "use a laser and spin the turbo to check tolerances!", they "fixed" it, sent it back...no change, still hit. i doubt they even opened it. Shop owner pretty much refused to take my phone calls when I blamed him. Udo that is. said he had "20 years experience"....didn't like my manhole cover remark..
that's when the BBB came in....i think i wasted 5 months with that deal.

since then i learn how to rebuilt them shits myself and never had an issue with about 5-6 turbos completely taken apart.
