Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck dude. that blows.
|
You got lucky. That could have caused some serious damage to the block or the turbo.
|
Yeah, reseated the 4 valves. With a torch there's no light bleed.
Engines back in. Snapped a cam shaft bolt. Got that out. Setting timing now. What's the compression bets? |
Compression is now 47.
Back left head bolt is threaded. No wonder it came out real easy and there was oil on top of the gearbox. Previous owner was a bit shifty. However cylinder 4 was showing 185 then cold with a bit of oil. There goes about 18 hours. Learnt alot.. Overall quite enjoyable. Question is do I attempt it again next weekend? |
I would personally not run that head or piston. Get a long block or rebuild. Time is too valuable to screw around with janky bits.
|
Yeah will grab a new vvt motor this week. Have a choice of two. Both are 130k km.... 80k miles?
One is definitely a 2001. Other i'm not so sure. Should get comp numbers back today for both. At least it will be nice to do a reroute and turbo install on a stand. |
do you have something to control the VVT?
|
Yeah MS3.
VVT @ 128k km is hanging in the garage. Bonus is the flat top. Extra parts are alternator / AC / Injectors i can flog to make up some of the difference. Pulled from a porsche wrecker who claimed 193/194 compression across all 4. Only issue was the starter was sold before i paid deposit. Ill test compression before i do anything. Otherwise there's a slight oil leak from vvt tube / oil pressure sensor area above where the starter was removed. |
