X02 downpipe?
Right, I have a 92 mk1. I recently bought from a member here, a DSM T-25, a mystery brand manifold (decent quality though), oil lines, and this "X02" downpipe-
XO2 Racing, Inc.
Now I have been playing with it in the garage tonight and using my old cat as an example, when I hold the D/P up to the cat they don't seem to line up. I realise it will all fit a bit differently once on the car but shouldn't the exhaust all be pretty much straight? I have a silenced decat pipe on the car now and I will be having a simple straight pipe made to go on with the turbo. The flange on the Dp is too big to fit the cat, and therefore isn't going to fit the decat I have at the moment. This is why I will be having a new one made, to act as a reducer of sorts. Should I also have it correct the miss alignment in the DP?I know that I should have fat pipe all the way back but a new exhaust system is not in the financial cards at the moment, so this will have to do until it is.
Here is a couple of pictures to illustrate what I am talking about (excuse my ghetto garage)
Now at the moment they will not bolt on because of the different flanges, but they are sitting pretty much flush in those pictures.
Anyone using one of these D/P's? Thoughts?
Not to put too fine a point on it, but that aint normal is it?

Yeah that's what I am thinking. Damned annoying as I was planning to be able to bolt all of that together without too much fanfare. Now it looks like I will have to fab up the decat pipe after I have it all together on the car.
Nobody else here has ever used one of these? The website for the part tells you **** all about it as you can see, but I am surprised that it doesn't even fit the rest of the exhaust.

I'm pretty sure that kink is there in the stock exhaust.
This picture is my new 3" exhaust but I hope it helps illustrate my point. Note the large resonator is parallel with the body while the part before it (what attaches to the DP) is where that kink is.
The exhaust exits the DP, kinks toward the right side of the car (driver side for you weird *** UKers) then straightens out toward the back.

yeah both ends of the cat have an angle in them its just that the angle doesn't line up. One thing that just occurred to me is that this D/P may be a decat as well ie; perhaps the angle of the dp will mate up straight to the exhaust. Dunno, ill go have a look later tonight. even though it is clearly the same one in the 1st ebay ad, in the ebay thread (which is I will admit, not a good sign) it is still a well made piece and I cant imagine they would get something that simple wrong.
We shall see.......
