Which Big (880-1000cc) injectors for Link?
 

Hey guys

I have a 94 with a LINK ecu with RC 550cc high impedance injectors.

I was thinking of going with 880cc or 1000cc, do you know if the link ecu can support any size high impedance injectors?

For the injectors I found these:
4# Mazda Miata 89-97 Turbo 880cc Injectors

and the
Injector Dynamics 1000cc which I'm not sure if they are a direct fit - does anyone know?

Good point, I called them up and they said that there is no problem with LINK ECU and bigger injectors.

They have some 770cc RC engineering but unfortunately nothing bigger.

I read a few post saying the Mitsubishis and Supras are running compatible injectors, is this true?

Is anyone here running big (880-1000cc/min) high impedance injectors?

Do you really need injectors that big? How much power are you trying to reach?

Actually my 550s are already at 0.91 efficiency (I should have had ~630 cc for 0.8 efficiency for the power I'm already making).
Adding 30% more for E85 and we are at 900cc/min for the same power that I'm making...
Of course if expect at least a 10% improvement you need to go with bigger than 900cc/min...

Basically if you use E85 it's very easy to get out of the ordinary with the injector sizes...

You should grab 880 or bigger with the e85.

Hey Papa Jefe, I saw your latest interview the other day and it was so nice to see your miata running! You were already good back then but now you just stepped to the top - getting so close with the nose of the car to the inside of that turn (I'm talking about the clip in the interview) was really awesome!

Did you manage to get the RX7 tranny to work in your car?

What kind of injectors you are using?
Do you know how the compatibility with injectors goes (What year supra or Evo injectors will fit)?
I guess I need to call some injector places and find out...

Btw why not moving to E85? It's cheaper and you can probably get more power and reliability than race gas...

My tuner says to go with big Bosch injectors, he has 750s and 1000 highs. He says they idle better than most little injectors he's dealt with. I am seriously thinking of getting the 1000s and being done with it forever.

Oh, and he says they are drop-in. We'll see.

sells them for $115 per piece (miata specific with all the things required to work - not sure if that means harness plugs too)

I think the 750cc Bosch were ~$450 for the set, IIRC. Not sure on the 1000s, though I'm assuming they are within ~$15 per more than the 750s.

I'm hoping that by getting them through my tuner, and him insisting they will idle well, that if they don't idle for shit he will let me swap them out for 750s for little/no $.

your tuner this and that, do you do any of your own work?

If I had deep enough pockets I'd have a tuner do everything. Then I could just enjoy the car. Instead I do the work myself and spend my weekday nights in the garage and miss out on time with my wife and little girl. Outsourcing your wrenching can be a good thing.

No worries, I totally agree that doing something one time is enough for me to understand how it works and I would be happy if I could hand the keys to somebody I trust to take care of all the wrenching...

Seriously, I have three little ones less than the age of 3. I have to go to work every day, then when I get home I want to spend time with my family and my wife needs me for some relief. After 8pm and before 6am, I can do anything I want, but do I really want to spend every night wrenching?

I have a lineup of great great people whom I trust to work on a car that I go 130 in. Tuner/fab guy, body guy, engine builder/machinist, setup guy, and a general mechanic that works on my fleet, so I get great personal deals from him. For things that I know will cost me more than it's worth, like swapping the 1.6 for the 1.8, I will do it myself, and leave myself plenty of time to do so.

This summer, first track day in this car, my normal mechanic couldn't fit me in for brakes. I started pulling them, and discovered a leaking caliper. I decided that I would do all 4 calipers, rotors, and pads. It sucked, I thrashed, it was hot, and that's no way to get ready for a car's christening.

So mom, stop bugging me for being a pussy.

I do the same thing these days. I pay for the services I can afford because I have a family. Pulling engine or other simple labor stuff I would get killed on I do myself..

If you are ever in San Diego, there is a pizza place in hillcrest that imports their water from NY for their pizza. Apparently the water makes the difference.
