AMS 500 EBC
Hey,
After searching around I found AMS500, I understand that it is highly recommended and it gives a very very stable boost curve.
It uses two solenoids in order to do that (the only EBC that I know that does that)
Anyway, I emailed them and got an answer that I need a dual port actuator (I use internal wastgate)
I got a few questions:
1. Is it an over kill for my setup ? 15-17psi top
2. What dual port actuator would you recommend?
3. My current actuator got two "ports" technically.
after a quick check I can tell that the bottom compartment is not air sealed... (must it be ?)

AMS is a nice unit, but almost pointless for IWG, especially at "moderate" boost levels. AMS dual port configuation works best for EWG with two ports. Able to hold the gate closed longer, aiding in spool, then open to exact boost set point with zero oscillation. You won't be bale to do that with a single port IWG, so it will take some finagling to get it to old the gate closed long enough to impact spool, while not creating a boost spike.

so let me get this straight: you spent 400 on a boost controller, when you could have upgraded your MS1 to a MS3x for the same amount?

Plus, an MS1 CAN be tuned to give good closed-loop EBC in any weather. There's a sticky on how to do this.
This doesn't make sense unless you just like adding expensive parts.
Probably not to late to return new, uninstalled parts. We're talking a new set of Rivals or RS-3s here.

For some retarded reason. Cant the MS3x do at least 2 switchable boost tables?
I'd have just got a 5way noid to match that 2 port wastegate actuator rather than running 2 3 way noids. I bought a 2 port actuator specifically for that reason so I could have better part throttle boost control by using a lower pressure spring and still get high boost by pressurising the 2nd port.

It also does boost by gear, speed, rpm, and time after launch.
These expensive aftermarket controllers with dual solenoids are generally used on drag applications. They use regulated compressed air or regulated CO2 instead of manifold pressure to control a 2-port external gate. This allows the controller to dial in less boost than the gate spring during launch by applying air or CO2 pressure to the bottom port. After launch, air or CO2 is directed to the top port to increase boost.
2 pressure regulators are used. The top port is set for higher pressure than the bottom port.
This allows for really fast reacting boost control, very important for bracket racing. Not ideal for HPDE or road race due to limited supply of CO2.
