Boosted but runs rough
 

Okay so I finnal put together my turbo kit for my miata. After installing it all I started the car and it'll rev up to 3k rpm then die. Its not very responsive to the throttle. Any ideas where the problem might be. Im still using the maf box and stock injectors. Just wanted to test if she runs but this happened.

Your going to have to provide more information, or this board will have it way with you as a noob.

What Fuel Control are you using?

The car should start and idle, with the factory injectors, but i doubt that it would drive OK, you will be going lean as the boost increases.

If you are just checking idle with the new kit, I would suspect that you have a leak in the intake system. More than likely I would guess that you have an Vent to atmosphere BOV... and that would be your problem (aka leak). If you do have a BOV plug it and see if the car starts and idles... dont go into boost, this will let you know if yours is leaking as most do. But thats a wild guess on common home homemade kits, as i have no clue about your car or setup due to lack of information!

Where you it be leaking from? All the lines are hooked up and doesnt appear to be leaking. I'll have to check out the vacuum line to the c/c box

if you have high idle speed, it's because more air is being ingested.

I'll have to plug up the bov and see, yes its a vent bov. I'll post pictures when I get off work and head home. I know its something simple because all i did was put in the turbo and hook up the i/c pipes. Most likely its the bov. I did assume that the maf sensor went bad, could this cause it to not hold an idle.

the bov is leaking then or a coupler is not done properly. Thats the issue with Maf/afm systems 99% of the time unmetered air =fail check it all of agian and get back to us.

In the future post more information about your setup, we dont like having to look for it, and you will be slammed here, trust me I have seen it.

I took a wild guess on the BOV, but I was 99% sure that was your problem as it is a noob mistake! If you are using a MAF setup you cannot have any leaks between the MAF and the Intake manifold. BOV leak, you need to have a recirculation valve or find you a BOV that doesnt leak (good Luck)!

You then need to do a pressure test on the system to check for any boost leaks, I myself was amazed during this test at all the leaks that i had, when I thought that there was no way anything could leak! Search the forums on how to build a rig.
