Default Going Disco Potato

Gt2554r or disco potato….I just can’t decide Maybe I’ll talk to turbotim and do a twin turbo on my Miata.

Since I could not find anyone locally with a gt28rs, I decided to buy a disco potato and compare the two myself. Curiosity was killing me and I want to feel the difference between these two turbos. To be honest, I’m extremely happy with my current setup. It’s fast as **** and very responsive at 12-14psi. I just ran into a deal with this gt28rs that I could not pass up. My plan is to continue datalogging for a month or two with the gt25 under various situations and then pop on the gt28rs for comparison. This is going to be fun experiment.

Wow. I'm glad to see someone doing this comparison! I'm very interested in seeing your results!! It should be a very simple swap too. Nice!

If you want my tiny GT1544 TT setup, I'll consider selling it. Depending on the results of the dyno day in 2 weeks, I may be going with a larger turbo(s). I need more power.

sounds interesting, let us know how different it is!

I'd like to try a 2554 and a 3071 as well.

The gt25r is simply amazing spooling up. Check out my latest datalog. I let off around 6500.

Very good comparison, I'd love to see the results. I'd like to see the 2860 vs. the 2871 but you obviously can't have all the turbos.

I'm shooting for 250hp. My goal is not to achieve 300+hp, but to find out what turbo is more efficient in this hp range.

I suspect if I open my exhaust I'd have better spool, but it pulls like bloody hell so fast you cant really tell. But man, that looks like fun, that's why I've always envyed them.

haha, I was just kidding about a twin turbo. Although these two turbos would make an interesting twin turbo setup
