Broken oil fitting
2 Attachment(s)
So I broke an oil fitting the other day. Leaking from the pass side. Figured it was my turbo oil line. Turns out I broke a 1/8" pipe nipple. The oil feed setup goes BPT - 1/8" NPT adapter, nipple, tee, OP sender and turbo oil line. Must have been too much weight / vibration for the brass fitting. Here's pics of the fix....
Should take the stress off the fittings. --Alex |
Yah, you never want that much stuff going into block like that.
Solution is to pull it off, use a braided stainless line off a fitting on the block and relocate the T and the sender. |
nice fix, I'll keep that in mind

Yea, moving it all is the ultimate fix. I'm waiting to buck up for an AN flare kit. I've got a pile of SS -3 line. Just no tools to use it. :(

I blew my SR20DET up by having cheap brass Tfittings. It snapped and i still drove it for a little bit... fixed it and a week later blew the motor up when i was burning out because the bearings were FUCKED. I like your fix, but my advice is get the tunertoys one..its steel. Once u loose oil pressure, the only thing you can do is pray that it didnt do damage.

Yea, I never actually lost OP. But yea, it needs to be redone right. This should hold me over for a bit though. Thankfully I've got a huge OP gauge on the dash panel.

Brass is just fine. Cheap works great. EXCEPT into an engine block. Anything other than steel will break there. Put a steel fitting in there - like this one - and it will work just fine. Mine works fine. :)
