Okay guys,

I need some help, I have a MAC electronic boost control. I hooked it up but am not sure that it is working. My dyno date is a week from Monday and I want to make sure that I have everything working properly.

Is there a way that I can test the solenoid while it is in the car?

Also, if I put the 12v supply on a switch will the switch allow me to choose from low boost (WG spring) switch off, and high boost, switch on, boost controller operating?

You will have to plumb your boost source/wastegate lines into the correct ports on the solenoid so that when it isn't energized (switch off) it passes the signal through to the wastegate. Basically, if you have it set up so that in the case it fails, it won't block off the wastegate, you're good to go.

you have a solenoid, i see that. What is controlling it? You need something to read the current MAP state, then send a PWM% ground signal to the solenoid to react to the changes in MAP to the target you programmed...


to test it, simply touch one wire to 12v and the other to ground. you will hear it click closed.

I am using a AEM 30-1052 EMS The AEM has the ability to invert control of the boost solenoid. I have tested it and here it click. I just want to make sure it is functioning correctly, so I am not wasting time at the dyno.

Clicking means working.

Bring a cheap mbc to tune at high boost in case.

As long as it is wired correctly there isn't much to do.

The AEM handles boost solenoids very strangely, it constantly shuts them open and closed until it sees boost, and then it closes it. I'm using a GM boost solenoid with my AEM and lots of people think my motor is screwed because of the constant clicking.

Sounds like a recipe for quickly wearing out solenoid, what kind of stand alone controls are available?

I think it's fine. If anything it prevents it from getting stuck.

Okay, I understand how it works now. Is there any way to test the circut to make sure it is working before I take it to the dyno? I have tested the solenoid an it is good, but I am unsure about the circuit from the EMS.

Make sure you follow AEM's instruction on their forum for setting up the boost control. You have to adjust the Boost Target Comp Table, and the boost error duty table. If your turbo is actually reacting properly to the adjustments made in the AEM, then you know it's working.
