Default Intercooler considerations.

Hey guys , Im going to be taking car of some business this week at a specialty exhaust and intercooler pipe fab shop in altamonte , Heres my layout for the piping:

turbo outlet 2" to coupler to 2" ss steal Intercooler piping to 2" to 2.5" inlet intercooler coupler , outlet 2.5 to 2" outlet coupler to ss steel piping to 90' bend leading into TB 2" to 2.5 coupler......I want to use the least amount of couplers on the set-up is this possible, any considerations?

Imput always welcome

Since you have no powerstearin (and no ac??) you can trie to move the compressor housing so it points down. (or are you routing it over the top?)

Take a look at my website:

This may give you some ideas on how to route your pipes.

I am considering my intercooler route as well and looked at the web site you listed. Is it better to run the turbo outlet back towards the center of the engine such as you have done or go out into the wheel well and then forward and down to the IC? I thought I read somewhere that you get extra cooling by going into the wheel area or is that just bs?

I routed my kit's piping so it would bolt on to any stock miata with a stock greddy turbo system. You can clock your greddy turbo and run shorter piping, but you will have to deal with ps and ac. I'm not sure what you mean by going through the wheel well. I have not run tests on this theory, but I would guess you would have some degree of cooling if there is enough airflow in the wheel well. I would rather rely on a properly sized intercooler for air cooling rather than routing your pipes through your wheel well.

I saw a pipe setup through the fender/wheel well last night (user rappadan). It was much like turbotim's setup. So little of it is protruding into the wheel well (especially when dealing with a lowered car), that I cannot imagine a cooling benefit.

What I really meant was to run the piping through the wheel well and then into the IC instead of bringing it down behind the rad and under. I do have ps and ac.
