can someone please help me break down this chinacharger
Hello I have a 1.6l with a t25 turbo running wideback o2 sensor, mspnp, 370cc injectors, a 2.5inch exhaust, no cat, and an intercooler. Also no maf.
The question i have is i need/WANT a bigger turbo but cant put down 1200 for a garrett. I want to stay with a t2 flange and am between two turbos on ebay. Can someone please explain to me the difference and what each turbo is in relation to garrett conterpart. Also dont say look on garretts website as i have numerous times and cant seem to find anything comparable . Thanks again guys turbo #1(259$ shipped) TB28 Turbo Charger APPLICATION Universal, Fits all cars and trucks, Modification maybe required DESCRIPTION Designed for quick spool application Perfect Upgrade for GT25 Silvia S13 SR20det Turbocharger with difference downpipe flange 2.5" Inlet Diameter Journal Bearing - Wet Float Type Internal wastegate set at Approx 10 Psi t25 Flange Oil Lub, Oil/Water Cool Ideal for smaller displacement engines making up to 350hp Compressor Wheel 0.60 A/R Cold Side Ind: 42.50 mm Exd: 60 mm Trim: 50 Turbiner Wheel .49 A/R Garrett 4 Bolt T25 Flange Ind: 52.90 mm Exd: 45.47 mm Turbo Comes With Its Own Serial Numbe, WELL BALANCED. #1 is more or less what it's labeled as.
#2 is closer to a 2871 |
when you mean that #1 is close to what its labled at what do you think that turbo would be like?
im just confused by the a/r of .49 being too small???? I dont want to buy a turbo thats too small or way to big. |
#1 is like a fast spooling turbo
#2 is not a fast spooling turbo |
would you guys say that turbo #1 would be my better choice? I just dont want to buy another turbo that is too small for my needs. Im hoping to get around 225-250hp once i get it properly tuned.
|
both will hit 250hp. one will get there sooner and taper the other will get there later and hold. Its pretty simple: get the turbo that will cater to your goals, not one we all tell you to get.
|
Personally I'd want the turbine housing of #2 and the compressor of #1.
|
braineack, thats exactly what i was thinking... if i had to pick im not sure which one would be better im just worried #1 may not be large enough.
|
when in doubt always remember "more boost"
|
I have the tb28 on mine and the only complaint I have is how small it looks under the hood.
|
I bought an ebay turbo a few weeks ago that had the same description as number 1. (.49 A/R). This is likely the same turbo I got. I chose it because the numbers made sense to me.
When I got the thing it was tiny. I measured the wheels and it is really close in size to a td04-9b (compressor was 36/42mm, not 42/60, as advertised. The turbine was just as small.) In short, a decent 150whp turbo, but not much more. Beware! |
sorry for your luck lukydvll.... thanks alot for the heads up. did u buy it from speedyracer?

lukydvll, that turbo's alot smaller than both of the ones i was looking at.
|
ok so i found another turbo on ebay. this one specs out damn near a garret 2860. the only question that i have is it is only oil cooled. Are there problems with running a non water cooled turbo? thanks
|
my turbo is now only oil cooled i just never connected any water lines to it
i wouldnt worry about water cooling on 90% of aplications |
