Not if you're running it standalone.

What would be the point in installing a bulb that will never light up exactly?:giggle:

It doesn't even light up when turning the key to the on position before starting the car? Then how do you pass an inspection, they look for shit like that.

thagr81 us 04-12-2010 08:26 AM

I think it would light up with the ignition... Reason being is that I am pretty sure it is wired in with the ignition ON circuit.

Really? I had pulled the bulb back when it was on the stock computer, and never put it back. So using the MS it won't throw any cel's?

lol

Well fuck, this is literally the only reason I haven't gone and gotten an inspection yet. MS:noob:

Adding lightness(I know it doesn't weigh much) and cleaning up the engine bay. I'm always down for new ideas.

The NB canister is located under the car by the fuel tank. I bet they will throw a code if you remove that stuff.

My '92 canister is removed and the line is hooked up to the line that goes to the subframe. VTA FTW.

The CEL is supposed to light up for a second or two with key-on.

My CEL bulb was removed ages ago and I've passed inspection many times without it lighting up. It just depends on who inspects it, whether they notice it or not.

Got rid of mine a long time ago... Still have quite a bit of cleaning to do, also mild wire tuck is in order

Yikes^^^^^Definitely time for a wire tuck!

If you park in an enclosed area that you don't want to smell like gasoline, the charcoal canister is useful.

I have mine working w/ the megasquirt. My garage is under my living room & my wife is not a connoisseur of motor fumes. YMMV.

Fucking-a that bitch is coming out of my shit this weekend.

+2 on the space issue :jerkit:

I normally try to avoid posting in old, dead threads, but since this one is mine anyway, I'll do it.

What do I need to KEEP if I remove the whole charcoal system under the hood of my '02? I took the charcoal canister out a long time ago, but now I want to remove the network of hoses and stuff. Can I just cap the one hard line? Do I need to vent it somewhere with a hose? I've got standalone megasquirt, so I am pretty sure that whole system doesn't do anything right now.

Ill tag onto your old thread as well...but Im not standalone (yet)...If the 01+ canister is way under the car like bryce said...then what is the black plastic can under my hood, between the intake manifold and the coolant overflow bottle? It has 2 hoses coming out of the top and I cant see any others. I really want to put my oil breather/catch can there.

Collecting fuel if for whatever reason some small amount reaches the engine compartment via the vent line. I guess it would evaporate over time, thus no drain.
