Last night I changed out my Forge Motorsport 007P for a Perrin Signature Series Blow Off Valve both are recirculating valves. The Forge valve made a the stupidest sound i've ever heard. It's sounds like a hammer hitting an anvil. It drove me nuts it seemed to work just as it should but I couldn't stand the noise it made. I was fortunate enough to findan old Perrin BOV forsale on a local board. Man!! this thing sounds way better just a slight woooosh noise. I just wanted to give a brief review of these.. The Forge valve works well but sounds like ***.. Perrin works well and sounds like sex with Alison Armitage.

Why not just get a bosch valve if your recirculating? I hear those are pretty reliable and cheap to boot.

because the Perrin was deliverd to my door for just slightly more than the Bosch and I got it the same day.

Install the valve the other way around and it won't make that sound.

+1 I find the Bosch valve sound great...plus getting a hookup from a tech @ Audi even sweetened the deal...OP do you have any sound clips?

No, just take a hammer and hit an anvil there is your sound. It’s an extremely audible ping.

The 007 is a direct replacement for the valves used on the VAG 1.8T, so I don't know what instructions you are referring to. Which happens to be the Bosch 25mm valve. The OEM unit is installed on the 1.8Ts with boost entering the side port and exiting the bottom, this is how the 007 should be installed. The face of the piston on the 007 is concave, the sound you are hearing is air whistling across this depression.


The valve will work either way but it will make that sound if you install it with boost entering the bottom. There is a huge group amongst the VAG guys that install them "reversed" for the sound...

The instructions that were in the box clearly show in pictures which way to install if you have any knowledge of VWs which I do and so does the VW tech that was with me. It's not a sound that could be made by air. It’s a sound that could only be made by metal hitting metal. He has installed tons of Forge Valves (we even used the soap trick) and he has never heard this sound coming from one before installed either direction.

It’s nice of you to assume I’m screwing up and not your product.

**** it. it's not worth my time. I had to reroute my Bypass hose because the Perrin is set up differently.

Hmmm.... This is a timely thread for me. I need to try mine both ways and see what I like better. Right now I have the boost entering the bottom and it makes a sound that could be described as a ring. It is kind of annoying and I would like to get rid of it. If changing the valve configuration makes a significant difference in the sound I will try to do a before-after video clip. Don't hold your breath though as I may not get to it for a week or so.

I just got home and opened up the valve. It appears to be missing one of the O-Rings. Correct me if i'm worng but it should have two in the main body and one sealing the top?

This service PDF shows an 006 so it might be different.
