Cheap ebay kit (china-charger?)

Anyone have any input? Only stuff missing (for a stock engine) is the DP, intake piping and air filter, right?

Is this one of the china made chargers everyone talks about? It doesn't mentions a name?

Dont trust anyone named Ilovetacotaco

Custom downpipe, the manifold will break, the turbo won't last very long, blahblahblah. Do I need to go on?

3barboost 08-03-2007 06:50 AM

any idea where the mani will break ?

is it because its unsupported or wrong material ?

Newbsauce 08-03-2007 08:15 AM

That downpipe is MUCH like mine, however only 1/4 as long. Manifold is megan racing or whatever...so it will crack in one day.

SloS13 08-03-2007 08:25 AM

that manifold is so thin if you get it oily you can see through it, much like a burger king bag, except a burger king bag makes a better manifold than that.

Newbsauce 08-03-2007 08:29 AM

Good analogy +1 point for Slo

Braineack 08-03-2007 08:48 AM

the problem is the turbo not hit block for extra support.

LOLA - 92 08-03-2007 09:18 AM

I have to say that it does "LOOK" real "SCHWEET".
I like the part where he says, "professional installation highly recommended".

Arkmage 08-03-2007 09:24 AM

the flange is only 1/4" thick and the tubing is .065

Both are far too thin for a car driven regularly.

LOLA - 92 08-03-2007 10:02 AM

Anyone can also EBAY EMAIL this person and ask questions about the product:

Seems as though this person purchased one of these recently. I'm sure they would give you information on the quality of the item for sale by tacotaco............

Uhh i dont know why you said it was megan racing shit Brad? This seems to be a custom bottom mount turbo setup. The problems i see are shelf clearance of the turbo, oil flow to the drain, the tubular nature of the manifold with relatively no place to put extra suppurt for the turbos wieght. The good, it has a gt28rs, the dump pipe o2 housing would be alot easier to work towards being a 3 bolt and not a weird turbo flange, and it looks like it could have been made more effecient in the manifold. But overall it should work provided you get the intake tract oil etc sorted. For less than the price of a new gt28 i don't think it is horrible, but i think my megan stuff is better :D

Other than the manifold thickness of materials, it seems to be a equal length manifold which is a plus.

Braineack 08-06-2007 02:42 PM

it seems to be made out of metal...which is also a plus.

samnavy 08-06-2007 06:08 PM

Basically what everyone is saying is that it looks pretty, but it's crap. Stay away unless you absolutely have to, but don't expect anything to last long. In the end, if you only want to do it once, spend the money on quality parts from good companies... or be prepared to fix it every time it breaks... and it will break.

Back to your question about "the only stuff missing"... what do you mean? If you're looking to install that particular turbo/mani/pipe on your Miata and have it run, you'll need the following at a minimum:

Nuts to secure everything
Downpipe
Oil Feed Line
Oil Drain Line
Water Feed/Drain lines
Intake piping and filter
IC piping/couplers/compressor adapters
IC
Numerous Silicone vacuum lines
BOV
Boost Gauge
About 20 other little things that will pop up during the attempted install

and the most critical parts: FUEL/IGNITION MANAGEMENT... dozens of ways to go here... how much money you got?

Don't forget other things like:
Fuel Filter
Spark Plugs
Motor Mounts
Fluid Change

So... what exactly do you want to know? HAVE YOU READ THE FAQ?!?!?!?

So are 4 toilet paper tubes.

Thats like saying "Daaaamn she's hot...........other than the fact that she is actually a post-op transvestite"

Tremiata 08-07-2007 05:35 PM

I emailed someone whom recently bought this kit and this was their reply.

"dont do it, the turbo doesnt bolt to the manifold, there allot of stuff missing, and there were no instructions"

1. Is why noone should consider this anymore.

2/3 are a none issue. I guess the purchaser was expecting a bolt on and go turbo kit, which this obviously wasn't.

Arkmage 08-08-2007 05:30 PM

I figured they wouldn't bolt up.... the original posting for that system stated that it was a T28 turbo (still does).

Further down in the add under the manifold specs it said "T3/T4 flange manifold".

Generally speaking a T2 won't fit on a T3 flange.
