Ok so I'm down to buying the last few parts in preparation for assembly over thanksgiving break. I need to buy all new gaskets and also want to buy new exhaust studs. The exhaust studs aren't new by any means and I want to be prepared incase any of them break during the stock exhaust removal. Right now the only things I'm having trouble finding are the gasket for the turbo turbine outlet (gasket between turbo and dp) and reasonably priced studs. I assume oem studs are long enough, but I cant find a source for reasonably prices ones. If you could post some links to those parts or tell me how to make some gaskets on the cheap I'd appreciate it!

as for the studs I think they are M10 1.25 . You could get some through ARP and they would be really nice. Or you could just find some locally at NAPA or something...I would try to find stainless though because mine were from Autozone and now they are all rusty. It pisses me off so much that I am going to replace all of them...LOL

You dont need a gasket for the turbine outlet, I have never used one and im sure not many ppl on here use a gasket there...the surface should be flat and adding a gasket is just asking for it to blow out down the road.

should I at least put some type of chemical sealant on before mating the surfaces? Or just bolt them together dry.

Just bolt it together.

It's a good idea to get new bolts. When I pulled my midpipe last week I broke 2 or 3 bolts. 4500 miles of turbo heat cycling does wonders on cheap hardware.

No gaskets...
One of my turbo's, okay maybe two, the flanges are just hacked together with plate steel, they don't leak.

Also if you can't find SS studs, you can buy some long SS 10.9 grade bolts and cut off the heads with a sawzall.

FWIW: I have experimented with some black nasty 2000 degree gasket stuff. it just dries up and cracks off--so it's probabaly not worth the bother. I just had to try it....

BTW: to make cheap exhaust gaskets, use some copper flashing, a dremel, tin snips,and a special hammer(the ones tin knockers use to flaten out the edges)

I use orange rtv (ultra copper) silicone on all mating surfaces. SS studs will make things a lot nicer. While you are at it make sure you get nice locking nuts.

We could use a fastener sticky somewhere with P/Ns from McMaster-Carr.

For the locking washers like FM sells and the squished nuts (ouch), turbo studs, gaskets, etc. I haven't used the following, just posting FWIW. I'll probably order all of them in my next McMaster order since they're cheap. If everything works out I'll have extras and can post my experience.

I was just looking through McMaster-Carr for SS studs and they only have sizes in 10mmx1.5 not 10mmx1.25. Can anyone confirm the size of the studs needed? Also the length that is needed.
