The cheapest place to buy....

Hi everyone,

I have found most of the stuff for my install, and i'm just waiting on a few more things to turn up, but I still haven't got a few of the bits cause I'm super cheap and haven't found them at the right price!

I'm still looking for heat resistant material, to wrap everything up nicely so it doesn't melt - it's topmount turbo aswell, so I don't want to fry the bonnet! Cheapest I have found is fleabay - here.

Next is the oil fittings... I have the actual oil line, but not the fittings. Speedflow seem to be way overpriced and bling bling, not a big concern for me, so I'm having trouble justifying it... If anyone has a link to a place that does them. I went to heaps of fittings stores and they said that the thread on the back of the block - M10 1.25 is very automotive specific and they couldn't get it from anywhere other than speedflow...

And the cheapest place you have found silicone elbows, couplers and reducers... This is the cheapest I found here.

Please post anything you found to be a real bargain, and this thread can be a bible for where to get your cheap turbo diy stuff!

Cheers

brainy, you find that stuff delaminates from its adhesive under high temps? That's what happened to me. Now I just get the fiberglass/foil sleeve and slide it over OR if it's not convenient, slit it and wire it in place. I've found the best way to wire it in is with aluminum wire or that super tiny aluminum tubing from the home store.

Check http://www.turbo-supply.com/page/page/972133.htm for oil fittings. they seem quite reasonable, but some things aren't stocked quite yet (newish store).

yes, acutally i have found a few spots, I've just made sure to clean the surface good and secure it nice and tight and I have no problems. If the wrap is poorly adhered then it will come apart, or if you spill oil all over it. Wire/zip ties to secure it also prevents it as well. Havent really tried anythign else, but fo rthe price it's worked out well for me.
