clocking the IAC valve?
So my IAC connector is hitting my 90* elbow off the intake, I'm sure you've all seen this before. I'm wondering if there's a way to twist the IAC so the connector is at the bottom/out of my way w/o breaking the damn thing. Ever been done?
Here's a pic... http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...016_medium.jpg Also - clocked my turbo after the PS removal. Went from this gayness: http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...005_medium.jpg To this, which made life so much easier: while you're looking at this pic, can someone tell me what you all call that cover that goes over the timing belt? Would it be a cam gear cover? I'd like to buy one if anyone has one for sale, mine's missing. http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...015_medium.jpg EDIT: Here's the LINK to my cardomain that I got the pics from, if you go there and click the pics they enlarge. I just didn't want to insert large images here. While I'm at it, I might as well ask a stupid question  My wastegate actuator has 2 nipples, can anyone guess which is the one w/ lower pressure? Top or bottom (near arm)? I guess I'll have to hook up a compressor w/ a regulator and find out which is which if not. |
As far as i know you cant "clock" the IAC. Unless the 1.8 is different. How about a straight coupler with a 90* pipe off the TB?

I have no idea on the IAC valve, but your pictures are very small.
I believe the cover thing is just called the timing belt cover. Many people cut the front off their cam cover to expose the gears so I assume the plastic cover isn't actually necessary either. I have no idea on the wastegate, mine only has one nipple. |
Yeah, I want to cut my valve cover to expose the gears, but I want the timing cover to clean up the look.
I may do the straight coupler to a 90*, but I'm trying to use 2.5" on the cold side and I'm not sure if I'll have enough room for that, and I'm already planning to use the J-tube to go around the radiator. I just did a google search on twin port wastegates and it seems one port can be plumbed w/ hose to a regulator in the inside of the car and used to adjust boost. WTF? Never heard of that. I'm still hating the fact I bought the car as is and I'm left to "pick up the pieces" so to speak. lol frustrating. |
i have my coupler just rubbing on the plug. not the best thing in the world but no problems yet.

just pull the coupler out from the TB a little...
|
I used a 45* coupler off the TB to a j-bend cut in half at the middle of the bend. Twist it around enough and it will shoot down past the alternator. I plan on doing a writeup for a budget intercooler piping setup once I actually get my car running (and remember to take my camera back to my parents' house when I go to work on the car).
