COP Toyota #90080-19025 and 90919-02246

Hey, I was hoping a mod could add this to the COP writeup in the useful saved posts section: #90919-02246 is working on my car using :brain:'s writeup
#90080-19025 should also work because they are interchangeable

I looked everywhere for wiring/fitment info and couldnt find anything. Anyways I got 6 toyota 90919-02246 cops with pig tails for 25$ shipped off ebay :))) because even though I searched and searched google/dsm forums/all miata forums including this one all I found was one post on the huge braineak cop writeup thread. On page 73 a link is posted that takes you here http://forums.pelicanparts.com/5180459-post66.html

He claims to know the pinout from toyota, but its WRONG. DO NOT FOLLOW HIS PINOUT.
Basically I'm adding the cops I succesfully got working (90919-02246). These will work perfectly well, they fit inside the valve cover and when fully seated against plug leave about a 1/4" gap between valve cover and rubber gasket on cop perfect for a hold down plate. As far as I understand, the cops I used are interchangeable with 90080-19025 so those should work also, the only difference being 90919-02246 are newer.

Wire these the same as you would wire the other cops in the writeup/follow :brain:'s diagrams.

so there. #90919-02246 is working on my car using :brain:'s writeup
#90080-19025 should also work because they are interchangeable

one other thing that I want to throw in... In my 96 the car's wiring was black-ground, brown/yellow-1/4 trigger, brown-3/4 trigger, and then my 12+ was blue instead of black white...? I even looked at pics of other 96 harness' and they had the black/white not blue. So I don't know whats up but in my 96 the 12+ was blue.

I know its an old thread, but if anyone can answer it...What are the LONGEST Toyota COP's that will work? I have a 2001, so the Valve Cover has all the bosses on it for mounting the stock dual-COP setup...everyone complains about how tough that makes it for seating the Toyota Coils, but I really want to do this mod clean...any thoughts?

If you want, I can stick the 90080-19015 COPs I have into the VVT head I have and tell you how much they are off by in length.

EDIT: Tried it. The holes are smaller than on the non-VVT head and those COPs don't fit. Also, there's a lot of bosses on the VVT valve cover!

Yup, the bosses are the biggest issue everyone runs into...so which ones fit with the least modification to the COP (BECAUSE I AM NOT MODIFYING MY FRESHLY POWDERCOATED VC haha)?!

So diameter is a bigger issue than length? <thats what she said haha

jpops your MS driving the (unusual) COPs issue will be solved by the circuit I just posted in the "spark out circuit" thread.

The 02246 coils appear to be significantly stronger than the earlier Toyota COPs I tested.

Drop in replacements for the usual suspect Toyota COPs?

People still do COPS?

Woohoo!
So Jason what dwell do you recommend for all around use?
Thanks for the contribution and help with them as well!

Anyone else use the extra-strength 02246 COPs?
