Cops to stock Coilpack
92 Miata
1.6 mspnp Hello, I recently removed my Cops to have it repaired. The person who made it for me soldered the trigger to the ground cable. Surprisingly the car was running. Although Cylinder 1&4 weren't firing, thank goodness the Cops were saved. Anyways, I decided to switch back to my stock coilpack. I installed the stock ignitor, coil pack (yes the harness is plugged in), spark plug wires, and changed my dwell settings (8ms crank 5ms running). I started the car and it ran really rough. It sounded like the ignitor was blown, so I replaced it with the other 2 ignitors I had. Still ran the same. Did I fry something? Any suggestions on what I should check? I could post my MSQ if it's needed. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you. |
I had a problem with my rewired coil pack arcing to the head and causing rough running issues. Might give that a look as it's quick to check and rule out.

Yeah, one of the leads on the bottom of a coil was improperly insulated and it grounded to the head by arcing across the gap back there.
I've only got the top two bolts in as well, just watch out for fatigue in the bracket mounting tabs as one of mine is cracked. |
