Critique this ebay manifold

Yeah I know that the manifolds on ebay are notorious for cracking and being POS's but this one looks pretty decent to me (Me=HMT Noob).

Thoughts?

I havent committed to turboing my 1.6 YET. I have a set of Fuji Racing IRTB's but just think that will be fun for a couple of weeks and I will want more power. I do alot of track events and that is my only reason I have shyed away from turbo powah.

Just from the description, they say its for a 94-97 1.6L...my '94 is a 1.8L...hopefully its just a typo. Other than that, I can't really tell from the picture much. The welds look okay, but getting stainless to tig weld pretty isn't very hard. If it were me welding, I would like to have the fillet a little bit wider on the flanges, maybe getting a little more penetration. I don't like how they don't specify the thickness of the runners. The flanges look ok, its hard to say if it will actually fit-up to the head, but they would probably have to be cut for some expansion joints. Looks pretty though, and a decent price.

P.S. where do you primarily go for track events?

outside the US they keep making the 1.6 along with 1.8. Most like its made outside the states.

Do a search on Megan manifolds.. there already is a post with alot of info on that manifold. BTW before it goes anywhere.... that manifold is for a Mitsu turbo and can only use Mitsu turbos.

Since I have this manifold, I'll comment. In this auction, they call it an A2R, blah blah.. it's a megan racing manifold. They're called "T-pros" as well, but it's all the same thing.

The thing is, they look great. Really, it's a gorgeous piece. Now, on to the bad. The runners are too thin. The flange is thick, and there are braces on each runner, but they're on the bottom. Now, I don't have experience with any manifold cracking, but it seems to be they would crack on top, from the weight? (I need help on this one)

Everything fits like it should, but the turbo flange needed some die grinder work. No big deal I suppose. The gaskets are lame, but that's to be expected.

From your post saying you do a lot of track events, I'd say it's exactly the wrong manifold. Although a counter point is they're cheap as sin..

EDIT: Here's the same thing (?) for much cheaper

Sweet, will you be at VIR with the Audi club in November? I'll be there in my Spec Miata.

Nope, I'll be in Rockinham in November. I will be up at South Course in September with the Porsche Club.

Ok, I see, this is just a plain jane Megan manifold.
