Dented Intercooler Inlet/Outlet from Cxracing

Can this be bent back so it's round? I don't know if I should try or drive down 1.5 hours for an exchange?

Their customer service is pretty shitty and blamed everything on Fedex, even though the box is in perfectly good condition. They didn't want to exchange it at first, but after many emails, they said I can send it back for a return if I pay for shipping. Fuckers.

Is their a hairline crack in the middle of the flat spot? You could heat it up and bend it back if you care or just use it the way it is, i doubt you would have issues with it sealing. Pretty lame they won't comp you on it though. Depending on their packaging, that thing hit concrete pretty hard for it to do that.

Precisely. There's no way those scratches would have happened unless it occurred outside the box (which is in perfect condition). So much for them blaming Fedex. I brought that to their attention and they still blamed Fedex.

go swap it and bring the box with you, then bitch at them

driftbandito 02-28-2008 03:21 AM

definately looks like somebody dropped it before packaging

Braineack 02-28-2008 09:16 AM

they probably make a total of $3 dollars on those things, hence the hesitance to help you out :)

it really wouldn't bother me, use t-clamps and that thing will seal just fine....but then again I'm a lazy asshole.

I would think a little heat and an exhaust pipe expander would fix that pretty easy. It's shitty of them not to allow you to RMA it but you might as well do the best you can with what you have.

Splitime 02-28-2008 09:48 AM

I have to say, I had the same thing happen with SSautocrome and one of the first ICs I bought from them. 2 in a row came damaged.. both times they simply shipped one out and sent a return shipping label. As much as I dislike the company... they did come through (following lots of emails and pictures of course).

That little bit off... i'd heat and massage with a hammer back into round. Especially if they are going to force you to pay to ship it... which is BS.

Zabac 02-28-2008 09:53 AM

i wouldnt even worry about it, it looks fine, now if it wont hold a seal once you have it on there, then raise some hell to get justice

Saml01 02-28-2008 09:56 AM

Charge em back for sending damaged goods, keep the IC and have your money too. If they really want it, they will pay for return shipping of it.

Wanna sell it to me? Ill take it off you for 50% off, afterall its damaged goods.;)

Or just use it, it looks fine.

Newbsauce 02-28-2008 10:16 AM

Rebuke credit card charges.

M-Tuned 02-28-2008 10:18 AM

Just use it! Not a big deal. I would not try to fix it as you might mess up the aluminum casting and have a useless Intercooler.

technically if you do that you still have to pay return shipping or you are committing theft.

patsmx5 02-28-2008 09:56 PM

Raise Hell!!! I would, that's BS and you and they both know it. Make them wish they had just sent you a new one. Call the Better Business Bureau and report them. If you paid for it with Paypal, file a dispute. Use all your resources. I bet they'll call YOU back telling you how happy they would be to exchange the IC at no cost to you. I'd be damned if I would just 'accept' it. That's BULL SHIT.

iWeasel410 02-28-2008 11:18 PM

Just go to harbor freight, buy an exhaust tailpipe expander for 10$, return the ic outlet to round, and return the expander. No harm no foul :-P

Zabac 02-29-2008 10:06 AM

this thing is not that bad, if it didnt seal and was cracked or seomthing, then yeah, by all means, but this thing is barely bent, i bet it wont even make a difference, everytime these sellers have to eat cost, they increase their profit margins for the sales to come and we all end up losing that way in the future
if tis no big deal, dont make it one, be a man
Dan

I agree with you for the most part. If it works fine I"d probably use it myself. However, by them jerking him around and him finally settling on keeping it, this just makes it even harder for the next guy who gets a damaged part to get a return.
