Did I really just pop my engine...on video?
Hydra ems. Stock FM ignition table for 91 octane. (I use 93)
AFRs are dead on (during regular pulls). Gt2560 at 13psi Out being a ricer noob yesterday trying to impress all my 13 year old ricer friends. I had very low fuel in the tank. Started doing donuts. You can see in the video mid way through a puff of dark smoke come out. I keep going and eventually hit the 7200 rpm rev limiter. The car immediately stalls and quits when i hit the limiter. A little smoke appears through the wastegate hole in my hood. Pretty sure i was starving it of fuel that whole time. Took the car out today. Felt like it wasnt as powerful (could just be in my head?) I keep the oil level right at "F" on the dipstick. The oil has 1000 miles on it and was still golden color a few weeks ago. I pulled the dipstick today and the oil is dark as hell and now its right in the middle of "L" and "F" My guess is that I was starving it of fuel during the donuts and it was crazy lean. Detonation. Broken pistons. Oil consumption. Blow by. Nasty oil..etc |
Did you confirm with compression test? Ultimately the only thing you can do is physically check.
stuff like this is why I'm adding an oil and fuel pressure sensor and creating a limp mode. Hope it's just a false alarm and its som thing simple. |
how are you starving it when you said afr's were dead on?

I'm saying you're making conclusions based on....nothing
If afr's are dead on, they will be dead on no matter what kinda silly things you're doing. I'm not saying you didn't hurt your engine. Just that you should actually figure out what happened |

track guys pull significantly more g's than you and as long as oem style filter/pump it wont' starve for quite some time. it's baffled and designed well
figuring out should start with compression test, leakdown test, etc etc. |

a random guess based on your description of seeing black cloud of smoke is that you flooded it

Do a compression test dude.
|
car is fine, it's in your head.
|
Dumb idea, it's also possible that you popped a coupler which would explain why it would feel down on power. However, it would feel like stock power levels and not just a little low.

How? Educate me
but really, troubleshoot/test the car. Cause as it is right now, you're saying "I HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM, MY LIFE IS OVER..........I think something might be wrong" |
Clearly looks like the backfire and puff of smoke following it blew the muffler bearing right out! That most likely has effected your back-pressure and is the cause of drop HP and the oil going down. The muffler bearing coming out effects the oil seal!!!! Better take the car to the closest Jiffy Lube right away and describe what I just told them. They should have the $5 fix ready!
|
Or just keep telling us what you think it might be :D
|
This is highly unlikely but I'm just gonna throw it out there. If you were doing donuts at high revs for long enough in theory the oil could be pulled to one side of the pan or engine causing a lack of lubrication and therefor engine damage. I'm just putting this out there, highly unlikely this is what happened as I would think you would have to be pulling some serious Gs for a while.

There is no G in donut.
