DIY Fueling setup question

I am putting together a turbo setup and have a fueling question. I am planning on running t25 from 7-10psi boost. I will be using a evo 8 in a over the rad intercooler setup, msd retard, and O2 clamp. For fuel I will be running some 99 injectors with a vishnu dual feed rail. What I'm interested in is variable FMU info or what I can do to up the pressure for increased vacuum? Something to handle the 99 injectors more correctly than standard 6:1 rising rate, without going to standalone?

you'll want an FMU like the ones BEGi offers.

I assume this is for the 93 and not the 99?

Yes sir. 93 1.6. It's my understandng that I need to adjust the idle mixture but the stock 1.6 ecu should be able to handle the increased injector size.

If I may ask a relatively innocent question, is there a particular reason why you're leaning towards the decidedly low-tech solution of piggybacks and bandaids, as opposed to something like a Megasquirt ECU and a set of properly-sized injectors?

With respect to the acknowledgement that individual tastes vary, I personally find dealing with a fully configurable ECU much easier than tweaking fuel pressure regulators and fiddling with clocksprings.

I have a Begi FMU for sale. PM me if interested.

I have been considering standalone honestly. I just got all my bandaids for little to no cost.

What are most of you guys doing about fuel pressure regulation/control with a mspnp?

Braineack 10-11-2010 03:43 PM

nothing.

I bet most folks are running stock rails and stock FPRs.

There are so many reasons why you should sell all of your bandaids and put the profit into a Megasquirt.

I do see the benefits. I guess I'm waiting to find one for a good price.

Also nothing. Just the stock 1:1 FPR that some guy named 和夫 mounted to the back of the fuel rail 19 years ago when they put the engine together in Hiroshima.

Life is really wonderful when you don't have to worry about variable differential fuel pressures, the nonlinear relationship between fuel pressure and fuel flow, or whether your fuel pump is capable of producing XX PSI or not.

JEMERY 10-11-2010 08:06 PM

I was wondering that if I want to run the 99 injectors do I require something to boost the fuel pressure to 60psi I think normal operation per the DIY sticky. Has anyone run these injectors at lower than designed for normal pressures i.e. 43.5 and run into issues?

Braineack 10-12-2010 08:58 AM

shouldn't be an issue. once you get into boost they'll be spraying at >55psi.
